JOB TITLE: Med Tech
REPORTS TO: Manager of The Residence
SALARY CLASSIFICATION: Hourly
General Description:
Administers medication or supports medication self-management for occupants of The Residence while performing basic care procedures. Recognizes the residents served are unique persons, requiring individual alternatives to maintain full lives in our community. Provide medical, spiritual, and emotional care; encompassing quality, dignity, compassion and confidentiality for each individual.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provides medication management support as needed to those residents who self-administer medications.
- Administers medications as ordered to residents as scheduled.
- Observes residents for expected side effects of medication and has knowledge of potential hazards of medications and applies applicable precautions.
- Accurately administers prn medications.
- Observes residents to ensure physically able to take medications and takes appropriate actions.
- Accurately documents medication administration.
- Communicates with residents, families and staff in a sensitive, professional and therapeutic manner.
- Observes and communicates changes in the resident condition to the Care Coordinator or Supervisor.
- Obtains and documents resident vital signs and weight as indicated.
- Assists in the resident activities of daily living which includes assisting with meals and nourishments, transferring using proper body mechanics and appropriate assistive devices, ambulation, bathing and dressing.
- Assists with move ins, transfers out, and return of residents.
- Provides for the safety and security of assigned residents.
- Maintains established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, quality improvement programs and safety, environmental and infection control standards.
- Attends meetings as required.
- Participates in education programs and in-service meetings.
- Understands and follows “Standard Precautions” as it pertains to potential exposure to all body fluids. Utilizes infection control techniques.
- Understands chemical(s) used in their area under the “Right to Know” standard.
- Reports all unsafe conditions appropriately, including change in resident status, broken or malfunctioning equipment or anything that could be a potential threat or danger to a resident. Practices good safety awareness.
- Knowledgeable of Resident Rights and Abuse policy and procedure.
- Performs any other duties and responsibilities that may become necessary or as directed by supervisor.

The Residence at Elim Park (REP)
Entry Level Qualifications:
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Current CT Certification of Unlicensed Staff to Administer Medications – Course includes 24 classroom hours and 8 practical hours.
- Ability to add and subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
