The candidate must demonstrate strong expertise in Business Objects XI Administration, Data Services platforms, and DB2 and SQL-based database technologies.
Location: Onsite in Washington, DC
Pay: $50-55hr
The ideal candidate must be capable of managing multiple assignments concurrently while working independently from other application and software development subject matter experts. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required, along with the ability to quickly learn and support various software products necessary for job execution. The candidate must be able to interact effectively with technical teams, business users, and clients. A solid understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and change management processes is required.
Administrator Responsibilities

- Performing system upgrades and backups
- Ensuring data integrity, availability, and reliability for business intelligence and analytics platforms
Key Qualifications
- Proven administrative expertise with Business Objects Enterprise systems, Data Services platforms, and Crystal Reports
- Strong scripting experience using PowerShell, Java, and SQL
- Proficiency with MS Office tools, Visio, and Jira Service Management
- Strong database experience, preferably with DB2 and SQL-based platforms
Core Responsibilities
User and Security Management
- Manage user accounts, groups, and access permissions
- Implement and maintain platform security configurations
Platform and Server Management
- Install, configure, and maintain the Business Objects platform and associated services
- Monitor server performance, system health, and application availability
- Schedule, monitor, and manage daily report jobs
System Maintenance and Support
- Perform system upgrades, patching, and backups
- Diagnose and resolve performance and system issues
- Provide technical support to business and development teams
- Manage BI repository objects, including Universes and Connections
Data and Reporting
- Assist in the design and development of business objects and data models
- Collaborate with other teams to configure ETL processes and ensure adherence to best practices
- Support report development, enhancement, and modifications
Day-to-Day Activities
- Provide Business Objects administration, operations, and maintenance support
- Evaluate product upgrades, service packs, and fix packs for application impact
- Assess security vulnerability patches for performance and stability impact
- Participate in system management process design, development, and support
- Provide support during peak operational and performance periods
- Collaborate with solution architects to design and implement appropriate system architectures
- Identify and resolve Business Objects-related issues and determine optimal resolution approaches
- Define, manage, audit, and control configuration items throughout the SDLC
- Design and deploy Crystal Reports using database and XML data sources
- Validate converted reports from legacy universe formats to modern universe formats
- Deploy and manage database objects
- Review vulnerability ratings, directives, and exposure reports; test and implement recommended remediations
- Monitor, maintain, upgrade, and install ETL processes
- Implement and support multi-developer data integration environments
- Provide development input for Java-based programs using SDKs and Eclipse
- Enhance and optimize SQL stored procedures and scheduled jobs
- Maintain control processes to ensure application integrity and preservation of project artifacts
- Support development teams by resolving system and tool-related issues
- Ensure correct versioning of configuration items during changes and implementations
- Define and enforce business object check-in/check-out procedures
- Update and maintain Business Objects process and technical documentation
- Provide architectural guidance and recommendations to improve the Business Objects environment
Skills, experience, and other compensable factors will be considered when determining pay rate. The pay range provided in this posting reflects a W2 hourly rate; other employment options may be available that may result in pay outside of the provided range.
