Role Description The Associate Director Engineering role is a full-time, on-site position based in Indianapolis, IN. This role is responsible for leading engineering teams, providing technical direction, and ensuring high-quality delivery of software and systems in support of Lilly’s scientific and business objectives. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing engineering roadmaps, overseeing complex projects, coordinating integration efforts across platforms, and partnering with cross-functional stakeholders such as product, quality, and operations. The Associate Director Engineering will mentor and develop team members, drive best practices in software development and engineering management, and promote continuous improvement in processes, reliability, and compliance. The role also involves monitoring performance metrics, identifying risks, and implementing solutions that align with regulatory requirements and organizational priorities.
Qualifications
- Strong Engineering Management and Team Leadership skills, with experience guiding diverse technical teams and fostering an inclusive, collaborative environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in Software Development, including modern architectures, coding practices, and lifecycle management.
- Proficiency in Project Management, with a track record of planning, executing, and delivering complex engineering initiatives on time and within scope.
- Experience with Integration of systems and platforms, ensuring secure, reliable data and workflow connectivity across applications.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field; advanced degree is preferred.
- Experience in regulated or healthcare-related environments, with understanding of quality, compliance, and validation expectations.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into business outcomes.
- Ability to work on-site in Indianapolis, IN, and collaborate effectively across global and cross-functional teams.
