What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Inspector position at Elgin Die Mold?
Shift: 3:30 PM - 12:00 AM
***INJECTION MOLDING EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED***
Description of Duties:
- Perform initial inspection of production run startups.
- Monitor control plan characteristics of assigned production equipment.
- Create Non-conformance Reports when required, tag affected materials.
- Perform visual inspections of assigned equipment.
- Notify production personnel of discrepancies.
- Collect SPC data and log.
- Keep work areas clean.
- Verify correct packaging on assigned equipment.
- Other duties as directed by supervisor.
Job Tasks:
- Audit production as required.
- Perform gauge R&R studies.
- File documents and retained sample parts from production runs.
- Quarterly inventory.
- Clean department as required.
Minimum Skills:
- Prior experience in quality in injection molding.
- Proficient in use of measuring equipment and scales.
- Ability to read and understand blue prints and GDT.
- Ability to input data and fully utilize SPC data as needed.
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, etc.)
- Strong memory skills
- Ability to complete in house OSHA training in LOTO, HAZCOM, PPE and Emergency measures
- Acute attention to detail
- Ability to become proficient in use of measuring equipment and scales
Minimum Physical Requirements:
- 20/20 vision (with or without correction)
- Ability to use hands 100% of the work day
- Ability to stand and walk 100% of the work day
- Ability to hear and speak 100% of the work day
- Ability to handle 50 pounds when necessary
- Ability to work in shop environment – continual exposure to potentially hazardous machines and equipment, loud noises, fumes, dust, mist, oils, and coolant
