What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Programmer position at Eleven Recruiting and Consulting Services LLC?
Eleven Recruiting is searching for a CNC Programmer for a well-established precision metal fabrication company in the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina. This is a hands-on, floor-engaged role developing, writing, and optimizing CNC programs across the shop's mills, lathes, and multi-axis equipment — producing composite tooling/molds and metal hardware components (aluminum and steel) to tight tolerances in a low-volume, high-mix production environment. The right person will bring strong CAM programming skills, precision measurement discipline, and a mindset for continuous process improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and write CNC programs for mills, lathes, and multi-axis CNC equipment using CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, GibbsCAM, or similar).
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications, using precision measuring instruments — calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, and CMMs — to verify part accuracy.
- Set up machining tools, fixtures, and workholding on CNC equipment, selecting appropriate tooling based on part geometry and material (carbon steel, aluminum, stainless, copper & brass, specialty alloys).
- Optimize machining processes and programs to reduce cycle time and scrap while maintaining tolerance and quality standards.
- Perform in-process and final inspection to verify parts meet GD&T specifications.
- Troubleshoot machining issues related to geometry, tooling, fixturing, or machine performance, adjusting programs and setups as needed.
- Maintain documentation of programs, setups, inspection results, and process improvements to support continuous improvement across the shop.
- Partner with engineering and quality functions to ensure new programs and processes meet customer specifications.
Qualifications:
Required
- Proven experience programming CNC machinery — CNC lathes, milling machines, and/or multi-axis CNC equipment — in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong proficiency with CAM software for CNC programming and machining operations; experience with Fanuc controls a plus.
- Solid understanding of mechanical blueprint reading, GD&T, and schematic interpretation.
- Proficiency with precision measurement instruments — micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and CMMs.
- Comfortable working in a low-volume, high-mix production environment.
Preferred
- Knowledge of electrical discharge machining (EDM) processes.
- Familiarity with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for engineering design and schematic review.
- Experience machining both composite tooling board and metal (aluminum/steel) in the same role.
- Experience applying lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and improve cycle times.
Pay: $25.00 - $29.00 per hour
Benefits:
- Dental insurance
- Health insurance
- Life insurance
- Paid time off
- Vision insurance
Application Question(s):
- What CAM software is your preferred? How many years of experience do you have with CAM Software?
Experience:
- CNC machining: 2 years (Required)
- Electrical discharge machining: 1 year (Required)
Work Location: In person
Salary : $25 - $29
