Job Title: School-Based Occupational Therapist (OTR/L)
Location: Riverside Indian School campus
Schedule: School hours; teletherapy permitted only with prior approval

Position Summary

We are seeking a licensed Occupational Therapist to provide school-based services that help students participate independently in academic, social, and daily living activities. The therapist will address fine motor development, handwriting, sensory regulation, visual-motor integration, motor planning, and adaptive functioning. Services must be culturally responsive to Native students and families and aligned with students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Section 504 plans.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations and reevaluations using standardized tools, functional assessments, and observations across school settings.
• Prepare evaluation reports identifying students’ strengths, needs, present levels of functioning, and recommended services.
• Provide individual and small-group therapy according to IEPs and Section 504 plans.
• Develop measurable, educationally relevant goals and monitor student progress.
• Collaborate with teachers, aides, families, and related service providers to support student participation throughout the school day.
• Recommend classroom accommodations, sensory supports, adaptive tools, assistive technology, and environmental modifications.
• Train school staff on appropriate use of adaptive equipment and implementation of OT strategies.
• Attend IEP and Section 504 meetings and provide written goals, progress updates, and service recommendations.
• Maintain accurate session notes, weekly service logs, and progress reports.
• Provide quarterly staff training on topics such as fine motor development, sensory regulation, and environmental modifications.
• Participate in weekly or biweekly coordination meetings with the Special Education Coordinator or designee.
• Submit monthly service summaries and an annual summary report.
• Deliver scheduled services consistently and provide makeup sessions as required.

Required Qualifications

• Current Occupational Therapist registration and licensure (OTR/L).
• Current CPR/BLS certification.
• Training in sensory integration, handwriting instruction, assistive technology, and trauma-informed practice.
• Ability to conduct assessments, develop intervention plans, and maintain timely, accurate documentation.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
• Ability to provide culturally responsive services that respect Native cultural values and involve families appropriately.

Preferred Experience

• At least two years of pediatric or school-based occupational therapy experience.

Documentation and Performance Expectations

• Complete evaluation reports within 10 school days of consent.
• Submit written input for IEP and Section 504 meetings at least 48 hours in advance.
• Complete progress reports each grading period and maintain weekly service logs.
• Meet a minimum 95% on-time evaluation and documentation rate.
• Meet a minimum 95% session delivery rate, with makeup services as required.
• Demonstrate student progress toward measurable OT goals.

Confidentiality and Professional Standards

Follow IDEA, Section 504, ADA, FERPA, school policies, and American Occupational Therapy Association guidelines. Store student records only in approved systems, avoid personal devices for student data, and return or archive records at the end of the contract. Maintain student privacy and confidentiality at all times.

Pay: $43.21 - $52.04 per hour
