Communications Systems Technician – Low Voltage

Job Summary

ElevationHR is seeking a Communications Systems Technician – Low Voltage to support a Houston-based communications and technology integration company. This role focuses on installing, servicing, and maintaining Valcom paging, intercom, and emergency notification systems at large educational and commercial facilities.

The Lead Technician will manage daily field operations, guide a team of technicians, and ensure the successful completion of system installations in Houston, TX (Pasadena & Memorial) and other regional sites.

Responsibilities

• Install, test, and troubleshoot Valcom paging and intercom systems
• Lead, mentor, and coordinate a 4-person technician team
• Complete speaker layout design, cabling routes, and block assignments
• Terminate and label wiring on 66 blocks and associated hardware
• Read and interpret system drawings, diagrams, and blueprints
• Perform basic electrical math and properly separate signal and power runs
• Conduct system checks, inspections, and documentation for project completion
• Communicate with project managers, onsite staff, and school administrators
• Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and quality standards
• Support system programming or configuration as needed (not required)
  
  

Requirements

• 2–5 years’ experience in low-voltage, telecommunications, or paging systems
• 4 years’ experience working with Valcom systems (preferred)
• Experience wiring 66 blocks, speakers, horns, and paging hardware
• Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and speaker layout drawings
• Strong leadership skills with experience guiding field technicians
• Valid driver's license required
• Ability to travel up to 50% within the Greater Houston area
• Work authorization required (no sponsorship)
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience programming Valcom units (plus but not required)
• Certifications in low-voltage, telecommunications, or related systems
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in the field
  
  

Work Conditions

• 100% onsite at Houston, TX and other Houston locations
• Field-based role with regular travel
• Must be able to lift, carry equipment, and work in active construction or school environments
