Job Description
Position Title: Day Program Instructor
Reports To: Day Program Manager
Positions Supervised: None
Work Schedule : Varied but encompasses day program hours
Purpose: Responsible for providing flexible, tailored, consumer driven and goal-oriented day program services both in the community and on site to participants with developmental disabilities. Day Program Instructors model appropriate skills and behaviors to both clients and other staff members in order to provide the best possible services for the highest acquisition of skills and personal growth without supervisory duties.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma and 1 year of related experience in working with adults with developmental disabilities.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must be able to pass a health screening and TB test.
- Criminal clearance required.
- Ability to utilize computer applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to type at least 25 WPM
- High organizational skills, time management skills and attention to detail
- Knowledge of the Lanterman Act, Title 17, Title 22 and Community Care Licensing Regulations as pertains to Day Programming
- Ability to write interesting and dynamic curriculum based on client’s needs and requests
- Ability to effectively teach clients concepts through classes, community integration, and role modeling
- Possession of valid Driver’s License and proof of liability insurance for each vehicle you own and operate
- Current First-Aid and CPR certification required and must be kept current through the re-certification process every two years
- Possess the ability to write all documentation within the program using proper English, punctuation, spelling and grammar
Instructor Duties:
- Assist Program Manager to organize and effectively schedule each day
- Assist Program manager with gathering of information for Individual Service Plans for participants
- Assist in identifying measurable consumer goals, objectives and strategies for client ISP’s.
- Maintain regular, clear and appropriate communication with Manager and Director
- Perform scheduled program tours
- Assist Program Manager to obtain coverage to maintain proper ratios when needed
- Assist Program Manager to maintain program site to showcase a clean, safe, exciting learning environment
- Assist Program Manager to maintain the client binders ensuring that all documentation is complete, up to date and correct
- Assist Program Manager by providing new staff with training and shadowing opportunities
- Immediately notify Program Manager of anything out of the ordinary or any information regarding a potential SIR
- Assist Manager to ensure correct protocol is being followed
- Assist Program Manager to distribute accurate and timely information to consumer team and circle of support.
- Maintain all company, consumer and employee information confidential at all times.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
