Ithaka Hospitality Partners is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Laundry Supervisor to join our team at Elevation Convening Center & Hotel, a purpose-driven destination overlooking downtown Montgomery, AL. This role is essential to maintaining the high standards of cleanliness and comfort our guests expect.
Job Summary:
The Laundry Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily laundry operations to ensure efficient workflow, proper inventory control, and adherence to hotel safety and sanitation standards. This role manages scheduling, supervises personnel, oversees production and quality control, and ensures all laundry equipment is properly maintained. The Laundry Supervisor plays a key role in supporting operational excellence and guest satisfaction.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of the laundry facility, including scheduling, training, and monitoring the performance of laundry attendants.
- Maintain the laundry department's Pound Per Operator Hour (PPOH) goal by motivating, supporting, encouraging, coaching, and providing adequate tools and supplies to the laundry attendants.
- Collaborate with the food and beverage department regarding linen needs.
- Provide organization, instruction, guidance, communication, and counseling, exercising good judgment while upholding Ithaka Hospitality Partners' high standards of quality.
- Prepare work performance reports for all personnel assigned to the work area and submit them to the housekeeping office.
- Order and maintain sufficient stock of cleaning supplies and linen.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Complete a monthly linen inventory, submit the report to the Director of Housekeeping, and recommend linen purchases based on the budgeted linen expense.
- Measure and record daily PPOH results.
- Ensure that carts and linen/supply closets are kept clean, neat, and stocked according to departmental guidelines.
- Report all maintenance deficiencies in the laundry via work orders.
- Expedite special guest requests, such as extra towels, blankets, or pillows.
- Provide instruction and/or guidance for guest and employee safety in case of fire or other emergencies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented and thorough.
- Strong organizational and leadership abilities.
- Effective time management skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to laundry equipment malfunctions, stains, and other challenges.
- In-depth understanding of laundry operations, including knowledge of industrial laundry equipment, detergents, and proper handling of various fabrics.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in the housekeeping business is required.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds occasionally.
- Must be able to pull up to 50 pounds from washer and dryers.
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods.
- Must be able to bend, squat, and lift items overhead.
