What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Technician position at Elevated Metal Solutions?
The Production Technician at Elevated Metal Solutions (EMS) is part of the custom roofing and siding metal manufacturing team. This role provides essential support in the production process, including assisting fabricators, preparing materials, maintaining equipment, and ensuring a smooth workflow in the shop. This role requires having a hands-on approach, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to quality and safety standards.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must perform these essential duties satisfactorily:
- Material Preparation: Assist with measuring, cutting, and organizing metal sheets and other materials needed for fabrication, ensuring they are ready for production.
- Equipment Setup and Assistance: Support fabricators by setting up machines, tools, and workstations, and assist with basic machine operations under supervision (during training) and not under supervision (after training).
- Quality Checks: Conduct continuous quality checks on materials and finished products, ensuring they meet specifications and quality standards before they proceed to the next stage of production.
- Shop Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organized work environment by sweeping, removing scrap materials, and keeping tools and equipment in good condition.
- Loading and Unloading: Assist with loading and unloading metal stock, finished products, and other materials, ensuring safe handling and storage.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and assist in ensuring a safe work environment.
- Documentation: Assist with documenting production activities, such as tracking material usage, recording production times, and updating job orders as required.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with fabricators, machine operators, and other team members to ensure that production goals are met, and any issues are promptly addressed. This will include assisting the logistics team with organizational needs.
Learning and Development: Participate in on-the-job training to improve skills in metal fabrication and machinery operation.

- Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in variable weather conditions and extreme temperatures (hot and cold) are required.
- Must be able to work in extremely noisy environments with radios, equipment, tools, and multiple conversations. Protective ear equipment per OSHA standards is provided by EMS.
- Must be able to listen, hear and talk in the English language
- This position is very active and requires employees to frequently stand and move for long periods of time
- Regularly required to walk, kneel, stoop crouch, reach, lift, carry, push and pull
- Regularly required to climb, work on ladders, balance, shovel, and operate machinery – such as a forklift
- Vision abilities are required for driving which include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
- Must be able to frequently lift a minimum of 70 pounds without assistance and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds with the assistance of another team member or mechanical assistance (such as a hand cart, etc.)
Required Licenses/Cert:
First aid and CPR certificate MEWP – current or must be able to pass
Forklift – current or must be able to pass
Valid Driver License - Current
OSHA Certification - current or must be able to pass
