Position Summary:
The Nurse Practitioner will provide safe, effective, high-quality, evidence-based primary and preventive health care to patients in a culturally competent manner, focusing on health promotion and disease prevention while upholding the ASQ (Access, Stewardship, and Quality) pillars.


The Nurse Practitioner must respect all patients' rights and provide respectful, considerate care focused on the patient's needs. The Nurse Practitioner will provide patients, families, and personnel with a safe and confidential environment.


Essential Functions:

  • Interviews patients to obtain accurate, thorough health histories.
  • Performs physical examinations and provides preventive health services.
  • Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients' clinical problems and health care needs.
  • Establishes diagnostic impression.
  • Formulates comprehensive health care plan based on findings.
  • Prescribes or recommends medications or other forms of treatment.
  • Refers and consults with other professionals as needed.
  • Educates patients and family members about health care issues.
  • Ensures appropriate patient follow-up and reevaluation occur.
  • Actively participates in the integrated health care team, working conjunctively with the School Based Health Clinic, Care Team, and dental and behavioral health departments to ensure seamless, multidisciplinary patient care.

Additional Requirements:

  • Grants are vital to ECH revenues and directly or indirectly support all positions. This role may include responsibilities closely associated with grant deliverables. Grants and grant responsibilities may change over Time.
  • Complete all required training as designated by HR and the position supervisor.
  • Adhere to all organizational policies and those outlined in the ECH Employee Handbook.
  • Comply with all ECH Vaccine Mandates.
  • Willingness to travel and work at other ECH locations as determined by the supervisor.
  • Comply with all applicable Credentialing and Privileging requirements in a timely manner.
  • Embrace the ECH Mission and Vision and agree to work within the ECH Guiding Principles and the principles set by the position supervisor.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned by your supervisor.
  • Participate in quality assurance/improvement activities when applicable.
  • It may be scheduled for Saturday clinics and telehealth hours.

Education/Experience:

Must Haves to be Successful:

  • Master's Degree or Doctorate in Nursing.
  • At least two years of experience in a family medicine or community health center setting, and DEA preferred.
  • Interpersonal skills and sound judgment are necessary to communicate with a wide variety of people, including the indigent, and to work with clinic staff to provide the clinic's medical services.
  • Exhibit cultural competence and exceptional teamwork skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.
  • Ability to interpret various instructions and deal with multiple linguistic and cultural variables.
  • Ability to relate cooperatively and constructively with patients, co-workers, administration, physicians and providers, community agencies, referral sources, regulators, and other health team members.
  • Ability to enlist the cooperation of others.
  • High tolerance for stress.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership abilities.
  • Outstanding communication and people skills.
  • Knowledge of the industry's legal rules and guidelines.

Nice to Have:

  • Previous non-profit and/or volunteer experience preferred.
  • Bilingual speakers are highly preferred.


Work Environment:
The work environment in a healthcare setting can be fast-paced and involves communication with patients and medical personnel. This role is highly clerical.
