Position Summary:
The Dental Assistant Supervisor is responsible for overseeing professional dental care services. They coordinate with dentists, hygienists, and dental assistants for all clinical and operational functions related to patient care. This position assists with the Dental Assistant Training Program, ensuring that the Dental Assistant staff are trained and working at the top of their professional scope.
The Dental Assistant Supervisor demonstrates leadership and professionalism in the clinic setting by recognizing and addressing problems calmly and confidently while facilitating clear communication throughout the clinic. The Dental Assistant Supervisor provides oversight of quality, cost-effective, and compassionate dental treatment for patients.
The Dental Assistant Supervisor must demonstrate respect for all patients' rights and provide respectful, considerate care focused on each patient's individual needs. The Dental Assistant Supervisor will provide a safe and confidential environment for patients, families, and personnel.
The Dental Assistant Supervisor works closely with the Dental Assistant Manager to train dental assistants, assist dental providers at all ECH dental sites, maintain inventory and equipment, order supplies, and ensure smooth operations. In all responsibilities, this role supports ECH's pillars of Access, Stewardship, and Quality by promoting efficient operations, responsible resource management, and exceptional patient care.
Essential Functions:
- Promotes the philosophy and mission of Summit Community Care Clinic.
- Can perform all duties and responsibilities of the Dental Assistant Supervisor position.
- Assists with the Dental Assisting Training Program.
- Participates in the Dental Operations Team, collaborating with the CDO, Dental Office Manager, Dental Hygiene Director, and Dentists.
- Actively participates in team meetings, staff meetings, and any other special projects.
- Organizes and maintains the Dental Operations related to clinic care.
- Applies effective communication techniques, demonstrates knowledge of ethics, jurisprudence, and patient confidentiality. Recognizes, understands, and responds to dental and medical emergencies.
- Works closely with the Chief Dental Officer and Dental Clinic Manager to ensure the clinic complies with all pertinent rules, regulations, and directives.
- Other Duties Assigned by Chief Dental Officer.
Additional Requirements:
- Grants are vital to ECH revenues and directly or indirectly support all positions. This role may have responsibilities related to grant deliverables. Grants and grant responsibilities may change over Time.
- Complete all the required training as designated by HR and the position supervisor.

- Comply with all applicable Credentialing and Privileging requirements in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
Must-Haves to be successful:
- Certification as an EDDA and experience required.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience using computers for a variety of tasks.
- Able to provide great patient care.
- Continuing education as required.
- Certified in Dental Radiology.
- Knowledge of computer software applications.
- At least one (1) year of experience as a Dental Assistant in a dental office setting or an accredited dental Assistant program.
- Previous training in oral surgery, preventive dentistry, and 4-handed dentistry.
Nice to Have:
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
- Knowledge of Dental software is preferred.
- Previous non-profit, indigent, and/or volunteer experience desired.
- N2O2 Certification is desired.
Work Environment:
The work environment is in a healthcare setting and can be fast-paced, involving direct patient contact and collaboration with healthcare professionals.
