Summary: The Design Engineer is responsible for reviewing customer documents and Outside Engineer redlines for accuracy, efficiency, and coordination with Elevate Structures standards. They will review customer documents prior to the commencement of drafting on a project and provide general direction, pinpoint trouble areas or areas for potential value-engineering, and locate information that is missing to begin drafting. They will also review redlines from Outside Engineers for completion, accuracy, coordination, and value-engineering opportunities.
Core Functions:
- Perform review of customer documents (architectural/civil/MEP/etc.) and comment on potential design issues prior to commencing design.
- Perform review of Outside Engineer redlines or drawings for conformance with ES standards
- Determine if buildings can be value-engineered
- Provide guidance to drafter for unique complex design conditions prior to drafting start.
- Assist estimating and sales with structural designs and/or customer calls
- Address construction and field issues promptly
- Communicate with Outside Engineers as required
- Other Assistance: Assist the Director of Engineering and Drafting in ad hoc requirements as necessary to advance the company's and Drafting Department's overall objectives.

Education & Experience:
Minimum Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- Licensed Professional Engineer is a plus

- Proficiency in Risa 3d or similar structural design software is a plus
- Minimum of (3) years of experience in an Engineering setting with design experience
Preferred:
- Multiple registrations.
- Proficiency in Risa 3d or similar structural design software.
- Experience with Risa 3d, and/or Ram Steel.
- Licensed Professional Engineer.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
Work is primarily performed in an office environment. This role will routinely utilize standard office equipment, including computers, phones, and printers, to perform the core functions listed in this job description. The work is primarily sedentary and requires extensive reading, data entry, and verbal/electronic communication. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies up to 25 pounds.
This role involves minimal exposure to noise or temperature variations.
