What are the responsibilities and job description for the Human Resource Consultant position at Elevate Results Consulting?

About Elevate Results Consulting:

Elevate Results Consulting is a hands-on HR consulting firm that partners with small and mid-size businesses across multiple industries. Our clients rely on us for everything from day-to-day HR operations to long-term people strategy and organizational development. We're a small, high-impact team looking to add our next team member.

Unlike traditional, in-house HR roles, you won't be siloed into one company's way of doing things. You'll work across multiple clients and multiple industries, each with its own culture, challenges, and growth trajectory. That means you'll build breadth and judgment faster than almost any single-employer HR role can offer. You'll also work closely with senior consultants who bring decades of combined expertise in people strategy - giving you direct exposure to how high-level HR decisions get made.

Overview of Position:

We're looking for an HR Consultant to serve as the primary HR resource for a portfolio of clients. You'll own the full generalist scope for each engagement - employee relations, payroll operations, benefits administration, workplace investigations, policy guidance, onboarding and offboarding, and compliance. You'll be the person our clients call when they have an HR question, and you'll be responsible for managing those relationships with professionalism and sound judgment.

This role partners with our strategic consulting leadership to provide full-scope HR services. You'll handle the hands-on HR work independently, but you'll also develop the instinct for recognizing when a client's need goes beyond the operational and bring those observations to our senior consultants so we can serve the client at the right level. Over time, you'll collaborate across engagements in a cross-functional way with other team members as our firm grows.

If you're an experienced generalist who wants the variety of consulting, the autonomy to own client relationships, and a team that treats your growth as seriously as our clients', this is the role.

Qualifications Required:

  • 3–5 years of progressive HR experience with two or more years of generalist responsibilities, including hands-on work across the following: employee relations, payroll operations, benefits/open enrollment administration, workplace investigations, onboarding/offboarding, policy and handbook development, and compliance
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct routine workplace investigations independently (fact-finding, documentation, recommendations)
  • Experience managing at least one full open enrollment cycle
  • Working knowledge of federal employment law (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, ACA, EEO/Title VII) and Minnesota-specific requirements (Earned Sick and Safe Time, MN Human Rights Act)
  • Strong client-facing communication skills - you'll be the primary HR point of contact for leadership teams and employees
  • Ability to manage competing priorities across multiple clients without sacrificing quality or responsiveness
  • Hands-on experience with one or more HRIS or payroll platform (e.g. ADP Workforce Now, Paychex Flex, UKG, iSolved, TriNet, etc.)

Preferred:

  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification
  • Prior experience in a consulting, PEO, fractional HR, or multi-client environment
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field
  • Multi-state compliance experience
  • Experience advising leadership teams

Responsibilities:

  • Client HR operations (primary focus)
  • Serve as the day-to-day HR resource for a portfolio of 5–7 clients across different industries
  • Respond to employee inquiries on policies, benefits, leave, and other HR matters with accuracy and professionalism
  • Manage payroll operations for clients across multiple platforms, including data collection, processing support, and troubleshooting discrepancies
  • Administer employee benefits programs and lead open enrollment processes in coordination with brokers and carriers
  • Ensure client compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including required postings and policy alignment
  • Collaborate with client leadership to develop and maintain workplace policies and employee handbooks
  • Handle routine workplace investigations, documenting findings, and recommending appropriate actions
  • Manage onboarding and offboarding processes for client employees, including offer letters, new hire paperwork, system setup, and exit procedures

Client Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with client teams as their primary HR point of contact
  • Proactively communicate with clients on upcoming deadlines, compliance changes, and HR priorities
  • Identify when a client's needs extend beyond day-to-day operations - such as hiring strategy, organizational design, or leadership development - and escalate to senior consultants
  • Maintain organized, up-to-date client files, documentation, and engagement records
  • Team Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with senior consultants and other team members across client engagements, forming working teams as projects require
  • Contribute to internal process improvement and knowledge-sharing as the firm grows
  • Support the development of client proposals and engagement scoping when operational insight is needed

Compensation and Benefits:

Pay: $60- 75k per year, depending on experience and certifications

Time off: 10 days PTO

Paid Holiday: 7 Paid Holidays

Retirement Plan: Company Match after waiting period

Work arrangement: Hybrid schedule - 3 days per week in our Minnetonka office, and remote other days. Occasional client site visits as projects require (typically fewer than 2 days per month on average)

Growth: Direct collaboration with senior HR strategists on complex client engagements. Exposure to people strategy, compensation design, and organizational development across multiple industries - the kind of breadth that positions you for senior consulting or HR leadership roles faster than a traditional single-employer path.
