What are the responsibilities and job description for the Survey Crew Chief position at Elevate Engineering?
Elevate Engineering is seeking an experienced Survey Crew Chief to conduct primarily ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, Boundary Surveys, Topographic Surveys and Construction Staking Surveys in both Field and Office aspects of Surveying. This will support the design and eventual layout of single-family residential developments, multi-family residential developments and commercial developments.
Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain survey equipment including automatic levels, robotic total stations, GNSS systems and data collectors.
- Perform boundary survey evidence reconnaissance and recovery, perform locations of improvements on properties, perform topographical data collection of parcels widely ranging in size and shape.
- At times may work as a 1-person crew or multi person crew.
- Ensure accurate data collection, recording and reporting of survey results.
- Prepare detailed survey field notes and sketches.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers, Surveyors, and other staff to support project objectives.
- Maintain safety protocols and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Proficient in survey software and equipment
- Strong understanding of survey principles, techniques, and requirements
- Extensive experience in boundary reconnaissance and recovery
- Proficient in reading and understanding land descriptions.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, communication skills and organizational skills
- Strong work ethic and commitment to delivering high-quality results.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years of survey field experience, including 2 years of responsible charge as a Crew Chief
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently.
- Ability to perform calculations utilizing calculators or data collectors.
- Demonstrate professionalism while representing the firm on a given site and in public.
- Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather and terrain.
- Ability to lift approximately 50 pounds and do repetitive work such as lifting, bending, shoveling, swinging hammers and walking or standing for long periods of time.
- Ability to travel throughout Utah performing all aspects of Surveying.
