Leading at Elevate Collegiate: Assistant Principal

Reports to: Principal

Primary Purpose: Assist the Principal in managing instructional program and personnel at campus level. Oversee the Special Education Program to ensure all students are learning. Oversee compliance with district policies, success of instructional programs, and operation of all campus activities.

Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree required. Master's Degree preferred. TX Special Education Cert K-12 required.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

· Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction

· Deep Knowledge of Special Education Policy and Procedures

· Ability to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness

· Ability to manage and coach personnel

· Ability to coordinate campus functions

· Ability to interpret data

· Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

· Provide instructional resources and materials to support teaching staff in accomplishing instructional goals.

· Provide Special Education resources and materials to support teaching staff in accomplishing instructional goals.

· Foster collegiality and team building among staff members. Encourage their active involvement in decision-making process.

· Communicate and promote expectations for high-level performance to staff and students.

· Recognize excellence and achievement.

· Ensure the effective and quick resolution of conflicts.

· Observe employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation conferences with staff.

· Work with campus-level planning and decision-making committees to plan professional development activities.

· Comply with district policies and state and federal laws and regulations affecting the schools.

· Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required including accurate and timely reports of maximum attendance to requisition textbooks.

· Ensure that school rules are uniformly observed and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.

· Conduct conferences about student and school issues with parents, students, and teachers.

· Develop professional skills appropriate to job assignment.

· Demonstrate professional, ethical, and responsible behavior.

· Serve as a role model for all campus staff.

· Articulate the school’s mission to the community and solicit its support in realizing the mission.

· Demonstrate awareness of school and community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs.

· Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.

Working Conditions: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress. Occasional district-wide and state-wide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours.

Educational Background and Work Experience

· A bachelor’s degree from a competitive college or university is highly preferred, a master’s degree is preferred.

· Successful experience leading adults

· Four years of urban teaching experience with a track record of high student achievement

· Valid Texas Teacher Certification and Special Education Supplement Certification

Compensation

Salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience. Additionally, Elevate Collegiate offers a comprehensive benefits package.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
