Position Summary:
The Dishwasher plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen environment within our nursing home. This position supports the dietary team by ensuring all dishes, utensils, cookware, and equipment are properly cleaned and sanitized to meet health and safety standards, contributing to the comfort and well-being of our residents.
Responsibilities:
- Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment using commercial dishwashing machines and sinks.
- Maintain cleanliness of dish room, kitchen, and food preparation areas.
- Properly handle and store clean dishes and kitchen equipment.
- Remove trash and recyclables from kitchen and dining areas as assigned.
- Sweep and mop kitchen floors and ensure work areas are free of debris and spills.
- Assist with meal tray setup and delivery as needed.
- Follow infection control, sanitation, and safety procedures at all times.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the Dietary Manager.
- Support dietary staff with additional tasks as directed.
Qualifications:
- Previous dishwasher, kitchen helper, or janitorial experience preferred (not required).
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong attention to cleanliness and detail.
- Ability to stand, bend, lift, and carry items throughout the shift.
- Dependable and able to work well as part of a team.
