Position: Security Manager/Shipping Coordinator
Job: Under the Direction of the Security Director, the Security Manager is responsible for the implementation, oversight, and continuous improvement of all security operations for licensed cannabis facilities within the State of Illinois. This role ensures full compliance with the Illinois Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act (410 ILCS 705), all applicable Illinois Department of Agriculture Division of Cannabis rules, and all applicable Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) rules, while protecting employees, customers, inventory, cash, and facilities. The Security Manager serves as the primary authority for physical security, access control, surveillance systems, incident response, and coordination with law enforcement, and acts as the site or regional subject-matter expert during inspections, audits, and regulatory inquiries and assists Security Director with directed special projects, or events.
Regulatory Compliance & Governance
- Ensure all security operations comply with 410 ILCS 705, applicable sections of the Illinois Administrative Code, and local ordinances.
- Maintain, implement, and enforce written security policies, procedures, and SOPs as required by state law and company policy.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for IDOA and IDFPR inspections, audits, and investigations related to all things security; Physical Security, Access Control, CCTV and systems, and fire and life safety systems.
- Maintain all required security records, including surveillance retention, access logs, incident reports, and training documentation.
- Monitor regulatory changes and update security programs accordingly.
Physical Security Operations
- Oversee the operation, testing, and maintenance of:
- Video surveillance systems (interior, exterior, and restricted areas)
- Alarm and intrusion detection systems
- Panic/duress systems where applicable
- Access control systems (badging, biometric, or keypad systems)
- Ensure surveillance systems meet minimum coverage, resolution, and retention requirements mandated by Illinois law.
- Conduct physical security inspections, audits, and vulnerability assessments of all licensed premises, in accordance with Illinois state law.
- Coordinate security infrastructure upgrades and vendor management, as directed by the Security Director.
Personnel & Access Control
- Manage access credentials for employees, contractors, and visitors in compliance with state requirements.
Ensure only authorized, background-cleared individuals access restricted cannabis areas. Oversee uniform standards, and post assignments, and fulfillment of Scopes of work of Contracted security and vendor personnel.
- Verify all contracted security providers meet Illinois licensing and training requirements.
Incident Management & Emergency Response
- Lead response to security incidents including theft, diversion, workplace violence, unauthorized access, and suspicious activity.
- Ensure all reportable incidents are documented and escalated in accordance with Illinois law and internal policy.
Coordinate with local law enforcement and emergency responders as needed. Maintain and test emergency response plans, including:
- Robbery response
- Active violence response
- Medical emergencies
- Fire and evacuation procedures
- Conduct post-incident reviews and corrective action plans.
Training & Awareness
- Assist in the development and oversee initial and ongoing security training for employees and security staff, including:
- De-escalation and customer safety
- Workplace violence prevention
- Emergency response procedures
- Security awareness and reporting obligations
Ensure all required training is documented and retained for regulatory review. Promote a “see something, say something” culture without disrupting customer experience.
Logistics Planning/Route Planner
- The Route Planner/Logistics Planner is responsible for receiving and coordinating delivery orders from the sales team
- Communicating effectively with third-party vendors, and designing efficient delivery routes.
- Communicate with the transport company to meet standards and deadlines.
- This role continuously evaluates route performance to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure reliable, high-quality service for clients.
Shift: 5 day work week. The schedule will typically be 7:30 am to 4:00pm. However, some flexibility will be required to support the full operation.
Pay: $50,000 annually
