Key Responsibilities
· Inspect restoration and reconstruction projects and develop accurate scopes of work.
· Prepare detailed estimates using Xactimate and other estimating tools as required.
· Create estimates for water, fire, smoke, mold-related, emergency mitigation, and reconstruction work.
· Review photos, Matorpport measurements, field documentation, moisture records, sketches, and project notes for estimate accuracy.
· Communicate with insurance adjusters, carriers, property owners, project managers, and internal teams regarding scope, pricing, supplements, and approvals.
· Prepare and submit estimate revisions, supplements, change orders, and supporting documentation when additional work is identified.
· Ensure estimates reflect current labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and code-related requirements.
· Identify missing scope items, potential cost exposure, and documentation needed before work begins or progresses.
· Coordinate with production and project management teams to ensure the approved scope aligns with the work being performed.
· Maintain organized estimate files and timely follow-up on pending approvals and outstanding documentation.
· Assist with job costing, margin awareness, and estimate-to-actual review when requested.
Qualifications
· Restoration, construction, insurance estimating, or related industry experience preferred.
· Proficiency with Xactimate strongly preferred.
· Working knowledge of water mitigation, fire/smoke restoration, and residential reconstruction practices.
· Ability to read plans, measurements, scopes, and construction documentation.
· Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate estimates under time-sensitive conditions.
· Professional written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to communicate effectively with homeowners, adjusters, subcontractors, and internal team members.
· Strong organizational, follow-up, and problem-solving skills.
· Valid driver's license and ability to travel to local job sites as needed.
Preferred Experience
· Experience working directly with insurance carriers and adjusters.
· Experience writing supplements and negotiating scope differences.
· IICRC certification or restoration-industry training.
· Knowledge of local construction practices, permitting, and building-code requirements.
· Experience with project management, CRM, photo documentation, or restoration management software.
What We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate is accurate, responsive, organized, and comfortable taking ownership of an estimate from the initial inspection through approval. This person understands that strong estimating requires more than writing a scope - it requires clear documentation, consistent follow-up, and close coordination with the field and project management teams.
Compensation & Benefits
· Competitive compensation based on experience and qualifications.
· Full-time position.
· Opportunities for professional growth within a local, family-owned growing restoration company.
· Additional benefits and incentive structure may be discussed during the interview process.
