Shop Manager - CTE Support SpecialistReports to: Lead Building AdministratorSalary: DOEJob SummaryThe Shop Manager is responsible for ensuring that the Career and Technical Education (CTE) shops at Elevate Academy operate efficiently, safely, and consistently in support of student learning. This role provides operational leadership across all trade areas by supporting teachers, maintaining equipment, managing materials and supplies, and helping coordinate student projects and industry opportunities. The Shop Manager works closely with CTE instructors to ensure students are actively developing technical and NSR (Next Step Ready) skills through hands-on learning, integrated projects, and industry-aligned experiences. This position helps maintain continuity within the shops by ensuring that equipment, materials, and instructional systems remain organized, operational, and aligned with program goals.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesShop Operations and Equipment ManagementMaintain operational knowledge of all major shop equipment and instructional tools used across trade programs.Support teachers and students in the safe and effective use of shop equipment and machinery.Assist in troubleshooting equipment issues and coordinating maintenance or service when needed.Collaborate with the facility manager and CTE instructors to ensure equipment warranties, repairs, and maintenance schedules are maintained.Attend technical trainings and remain informed about new equipment and technologies relevant to the trade programs.Ensure that shop spaces remain organized, safe, and ready for daily instruction.

Curriculum and Instructional SupportSupport CTE teachers in implementing project-based instruction and skill development aligned with Elevate's Learning Hook framework.Assist teachers in organizing projects, preparing materials, and supporting instructional activities in the shop.Provide feedback and support related to skill assessments, safety procedures, and technical demonstrations.Help teachers align projects and shop activities with integrated curriculum and student mastery goals.Assist with tracking student progress on technical skills and project completion when appropriate.Support teachers in maintaining effective shop routines and procedures that promote safety and engagement. Materials and Supply ManagementMonitor shop inventory and ensure that materials and consumable supplies are available for projects and instruction.Conduct regular walkthroughs of shop areas to assess material needs and supply levels.Collaborate with teachers to plan material needs in advance of projects and instructional units.Order materials and supplies in coordination with teachers and school purchasing systems.Build and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers.Work with school finance and accounts payable systems to ensure purchases and receipts are documented properly. Student Support and Industry ProjectsBuild positive relationships with students and support their development of technical and professional skills.Assist students working on special projects, industry collaborations, or Elevate Industries opportunities.Support the coordination of upperclassmen mentoring underclassmen in shop environments.Provide additional supervision and technical guidance during complex projects or industry-supported work.Communicate regularly with CTE teachers and business staff regarding industry projects and student involvement. Industry and Program CoordinationStay informed about school calendars, industry events, and opportunities connected to the trade programs.Assist in coordinating events such as industry demonstrations, technical competitions, or partner visits.Support coordination of student participation in industry events, workshops, and career-related activities.Collaborate with CTE teachers and administrators in supporting Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) engagement when needed.

Friday Shop ProgrammingAssist with coordinating Friday shop activities designed to expand learning opportunities for students.Support teachers and students in developing Friday skill-building projects and hands-on labs.Ensure necessary materials and shop setups are prepared for Friday activities.Help facilitate student leadership opportunities for juniors and seniors assisting with Friday programming.Maintain communication with teachers to ensure Friday activities align with skill development goals. Additional ResponsibilitiesMaintain a strong commitment to safety, organization, and professionalism within all shop spaces.Support collaboration among trade teachers and contribute to a positive team culture within the CTE program.Assist with coordinating special projects or school initiatives related to trade programs.Participate in professional learning related to technical skills, shop safety, and workforce development.Perform other duties as assigned by the Lead Building Administrator. Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.Strong understanding of shop operations, equipment, and safety procedures.Ability to support hands-on learning environments and technical skill development.Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, students, and administrators.Ability to manage inventory, supplies, and shop logistics.Ability to maintain safe and efficient working environments.Knowledge and implementation of relevant technology systems. QualificationsExperience working in trades, manufacturing, construction, or technical education environments preferred.Demonstrated knowledge of shop equipment, tools, and safety procedures.Experience working with students or training environments preferred.Ability to obtain necessary certifications for equipment operation if required.

Physical RequirementsRegularly required to stand, walk, bend, lift, and move within shop environments.Ability to operate shop tools, machinery, and equipment safely.Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.Ability to work in active shop environments with machinery and materials.
