Position Summary
The Clinician cooperates as a member of the multidisciplinary clinical team, in the provision of therapeutic services to persons with trauma, substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health disorders and a strong commitment to serving the LGBTQIA community. The Clinician will maintain a caseload as assigned by the Clinical Director, and performs core functions including but not limited to new patients intake, screening, provision of education to patient & family, individual therapy sessions, group therapy sessions, treatment planning, case management, crisis intervention, provision of referral, facilitating clinical assessment and evaluation, consultation, and clinical documentation.

Qualifications
Required
- PsyD, PhD, MFT, MSW, or other Counseling Degree
- 2 years' experience in the behavioral health field
- Licensed therapist in the state of California by Board of Behavioral Science or Board of Psychology
- Pre-licensed therapist in the state of California by Board of Behavioral Science or Board of Psychology with ability to accrue hours towards independent licensure under the supervision of the Clinical Director, Chief Clinical Officer, Director of Training, or Chief Executive Officer of Element Q Healing Center.
- Demonstrated competence and cultural humility in working with LGBTQIA populations
Preferred:
- Experience in a PHP/IOP interdisciplinary treatment setting
Competencies
- CLINICAL ASSESSMENT (Diagnostic, needs assessment, biopsychosocial)
- THERAPY PROVISION (Individual and group therapy; trauma focused therapy, dynamic therapy, 3 wave therapy)
- CLINICAL DOCUMENTATION (Coherent, comprehensive, accurate, & justifies LOC according to the LOCUS criteria)
- CRISIS INTERVENTION (Demonstrates ability to respond effectively in an emergency; Facilitates a safe, appropriate intervention in response to client crisis)
- CLIENT DE-ESCALATION
- Verification of active license (primary source verification)
- Thorough and timely documentation in accordance with State and Joint Commission standards
- Effective and timely use of electronic, verbal, and non-verbal communication, including body language
- Ability to maintain accurate and complete files, including licensure, insurance, and resume
- Willingness to facilitate reference checks as needed
Job Responsibilities
- Maintain an active licensure in the State of California or actively engage in pursuing licensure
- Maintain an individual client caseload and conduct individual therapy
- Lead group therapy sessions
- Engage in communication with outpatient providers and family members of clinician individual caseload
- Ensure all clinical documentation and case notes are completed in a timely fashion, identify medical necessity according to LOCUS criteria, and meet all State and The Joint Commision guidelines.
- Maintain HIPAA compliance
- Participate in weekly clinical treatment team meeting to communicate any current client behaviors or warning signs.
- Participate in daily clinical huddle for active interdisciplinary collaboration
- Participate in weekly didactic training to elevate clinical skillset
- Strong written and verbal communication with both clients and staff
- Display effective intervention and de-escalation skills
- Helpful and adaptive with assistance in the clinical department
- Provide conflict resolution, safety, and maintain calm redirection in high stress environments
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for both clients and staff
