What are the responsibilities and job description for the Houseman position at Element Hotel Midtown Savannah?
The main function of the position of Houseman is to perform and housekeeping duties throughout the various departments within the hotel by fielding guest requests, completing assigned housekeeping tasks. The Houseman position provides janitorial support to the hotel by ensuring all common areas are clean and tidy at all times.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain and clean common areas, public bathrooms and work areas.
- Ensure follow through on all guest requests.
- Clean furnishings, floors and carpets – using an extractor/shampooer.
- Assist housekeeping staff with laundry and trash removal.
- Wash loads of laundry as required.
- Perform property walks to ensure cleanliness, functionality.
- Replenish supplies in guest rooms and housekeeping supply closets.
- Perform HK tasks as required: change bed linens & empty guest room trash as needed.
- Collect all garbage from containers and dispose into the appropriate dumpster.
- Complete assigned cleaning and maintenance requests as informed by the front desk.
- Power wash and upkeep of outdoor fixtures
- Sweep and mop floors, clean walls, and fixtures as deemed necessary.
- Assist with bellman duties as required.
- Reply to guest questions and handle any concerns.
- Attend mandatory meetings & hotel functions.
- Report any and all wear and tear of furniture and/or equipment, as well as and safety concerns in your work area, to the Executive House Keeper.
- Comply with all company standards and policies, as established in the employee handbook.
- Other duties as required.
Education And Or Experience
A High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED); A college degree is preferred or 1 year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous hotel experience preferred, but not required.
Language Skills
The ability to: listen, read, write, and speak, both clearly, and effectively ensures that the lines of communication are open between the Associates and guests at the hotel; and is absolutely essential. Customer service is our priority, so it is imperative that all Associates communicate to the best of their ability.
Work Environment & Reasoning Ability
The ability to apply the use of common sense & understanding in order to carry out instructions, whether in written, oral, or diagram form. The ability to work in close proximity with others comfortably, while multitasking in a fast-paced environment. Must possess conflict resolution skills.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, Associates may need to lift items up to 25 lbs. and spend a length of time on your feet.
