Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Survey Crew Chief to perform field work in support of land surveying operations.
- Understanding of all common surveying and mapping instruments.
- Proficient with total stations, digital leveling, and electronic data collection.
- Ability to direct and train crew members in running level rod to obtain elevations, contours, location, elevation, and dimension of land features.
- Ability to direct and train crew members in holding prism pole for horizontal positions to allow data collection by instrument person.
- Assists survey crew in setting up equipment and preparing job site for survey.
- Prepares truck daily with necessary equipment to perform survey work.
- Removing obstacles / clearing brush and trees away from survey line.
- Work as part of a crew under the direction of a crew chief.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School and/or specialized training from a vocational or technical school.
- FDOT experience a plus.
- Valid Florida driver's license with approved/acceptable driving history required.
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to travel (up to 50% of the time).
- Required to travel overnight when needed.
- Required to work 50 hours during busy periods.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Ability to walk for long periods of time through all kinds of terrain, uneven ground and sometimes water.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work for any employer in the United States.
