The luxury watch and jewelry trade moves billions of dollars a year — on spreadsheets, group chats, and handshakes. Elefta is changing that. We're the inventory management system and B2B marketplace the industry runs on: dealers track inventory, send memos and invoices, build custom catalogs, and source and sell high-end watches at wholesale prices — all in one platform, backed by a powerful mobile app. They can list a watch once and post it across external marketplaces in a few clicks, and we're building AI deeper into the product every month. It's a massive, relationship-driven market that great software has barely touched — and we're the ones touching it.
We're looking for a Lead Engineer to take the reins of our engineering team and own how we build.
This is a leadership role first. You'll set the technical direction, run the development process, and raise the bar on how the team ships — while staying hands-on in the codebase where it counts. You'll be the person the team looks to for architecture decisions, code quality, and the call on hard trade-offs.
What you'll own
- Lead a talented team of web and mobile engineers — mentoring, reviewing, and unblocking
- Run the development process end to end: planning, code review, quality, and delivery
- Set technical direction and architecture across our stack — Rails API, React web, React Native mobile, PostgreSQL
- Build the hard, high-leverage stuff: cross-platform listing sync, AI-powered features, payments, and marketplace logic
- Partner directly with the founder on what we build and how fast we get there
What we're looking for
- 7 years shipping production software, with real depth in Ruby on Rails and modern React
- A track record of leading engineers and owning a development process — not just writing great code, but making a team better
- Strong PostgreSQL and systems design instincts; you care about data models and performance
- Tech-forward to the core — you use AI tools to move faster and are excited to build AI into the product, not watch from the sidelines
- Someone who turns ambiguity into shipped product and favors simple, durable solutions over complexity
- Owners mentality
- Bonus: React Native, Integrations/APIs, or marketplace experience
