Electronic Security Services, Inc. (ESSI) is a leading provider of comprehensive security and low-voltage solutions for commercial clients across the MD, DC, VA region. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Master Low Voltage Electrician (MD, DC, and/or VA) Field Engineer to join our growing team. The ideal candidate is a licensed Master Electrician with a deep technical background in access control and video surveillance systems, capable of both designing and managing complex projects and performing hands-on installation and troubleshooting in the field.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical lead and subject matter expert for all access control system projects, from initial design and installation to final programming and commissioning.
- Apply expert knowledge of low-voltage wiring practices for installing access control hardware, including panels, electrified locks, card readers, and other security devices.
- Design, develop, and document complete security system solutions based on client needs and project specifications.
- Collaborate with project managers, clients, and other team members to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting and technical support for complex hardware and software issues, both on-site and remotely.
- Program and configure access control software, databases, and network components to meet client security requirements.
- Mentor and provide guidance to less experienced installation and service technicians, ensuring high-quality work and professional development.
- Stay current with emerging electronic security technologies and product offerings, including biometrics, video surveillance, and intrusion detection.
- Oversee and perform system upgrades, migrations, and regular maintenance for existing customers.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with local electrical codes, industry standards, and company safety procedures.
Qualifications
- Must hold a valid Master Electrician's License or Low-Voltage in the state of MD, DC, and/or VA.
- A minimum of 5 years of proven, hands-on experience in the low-voltage industry, with a focus on access control systems.
- Demonstrable experience in the design and planning of commercial-grade access control and video systems.
- Professional certifications or training with major access control / video surveillance platforms (e.g., Brivo, Eagle Eye, OpenEye, LiftMaster, Exaqvision, DoorKing, Kantech, etc.) are highly preferred.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural drawings, electrical plans, and security schematics.
- Strong knowledge of networking infrastructure (IP configuration, troubleshooting) as it relates to access control systems.
- Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage project timelines effectively, and deliver superior customer service.
- Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
