Job Overview
The SMT Operator is responsible for the operation of Surface Mount Technology (SMT) equipment to ensure efficient, high-quality production of electronic assemblies. This role involves machine setup, verification of production processes, component handling, quality inspections, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.

Primary Responsibilities
Production Setup & Machine Operation:
- Confirm machine and conveyor setups for proper alignment and efficiency.
- Set up and change over Juki machines, reflow ovens, bare board de-stackers, and conveyors as needed.
- Set tooling and install appropriate squeegees for screen printing operations.
- Dispense and knead solder paste, ensuring proper consistency and application.
- Load and validate Moisture Sensitivity Level (MSL) components.
- Perform height tracking, pick tracking, and polarity verification.
- Ensure all operational processes support production efficiency goals.
Component Handling & Quality Control:
- Retrieve necessary carriers and tooling for specific jobs.
- Replenish feeders and consumables such as solder paste and wiper paper.
- Measure parts and verify placements.
- Validate skipped parts and confirm component counts.
- Hand place SMT components as needed.
- Conduct pre-reflow and post-reflow inspections to ensure quality standards.
- Assist in the completion of the SMT Standard Production Protocol Checklist.
Process Improvement & Documentation:
- Implement and verify run rates and in-process inspections.
- Maintain and update the SMT schedule and SMT notes.
- Communicate line status and production issues to relevant personnel.
- Assist in reviewing and completing the SMT Offline Setup Checklist.
- Support changeover processes for feeder carts, screen printers, and reflow ovens.
Workspace Organization & Maintenance:
- Ensure cleanliness of production areas.
- Make boxes and configure racks for completed products.
- Apply appropriate box labels and move finished products to the next labor steps.
- Tear down Juki machines and screen printers after production.
- Clean and maintain squeegees, screens, and tooling as required.
- Properly handle and dispose of used solder paste.
Qualifications
- High School diploma
- Strong computer skills
- Machine Operation or Manufacturing experience preferred
