Application Engineer – Power Distribution (LV/MV)

Location: Remote
Salary: $95,000 – $125,000 per year
Job Type: Full-time

Company Overview

We are a global leader in the design and manufacturing of high-quality electromechanical components, serving industries such as industrial automation, energy, and power distribution. With over 30 years of innovation and fully automated production capabilities, we deliver reliable, high-performance solutions to customers worldwide.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Application Engineer specializing in low- and medium-voltage (LV/MV) power distribution components. This role is focused on component-level application engineering, supporting customers with product selection, protection coordination, and system integration.

You will serve as a technical expert, working directly with OEMs, utilities, panel builders, and switchgear manufacturers to ensure proper application of circuit protection and switching components.

This is not a system-level or project-only engineering role. Candidates must have hands-on experience applying individual components such as breakers, vacuum interrupters, and protection devices.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Application Support

  • Provide application support for LV/MV components including circuit breakers, vacuum interrupters, contactors, and switchgear devices
  • Guide customers on product selection, protection coordination, and proper application design
  • Support integration, troubleshooting, and performance optimization of components

Customer & Engineering Collaboration

  • Work directly with OEMs, panel builders, utilities, and switchgear engineering teams
  • Partner with internal Engineering, Product Management, and Sales teams on product applications
  • Support customer qualification, testing, and validation activities

Standards & Compliance

  • Interpret and apply industry standards, including:
  • UL 489
  • UL 508
  • IEC 60947
  • IEEE C37

Documentation & Reporting

  • Prepare technical documentation such as application notes, datasheets, and customer reports
  • Provide clear technical guidance and recommendations to both internal and external stakeholders

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 5 years of hands-on experience in power distribution or switchgear applications
  • Strong experience with component-level application engineering (not just system design)
  • Proven ability to support customer-facing technical discussions

Required Technical Experience

Candidates must have direct, hands-on experience with most of the following:

  • MCCB / MCB circuit breakers
  • Vacuum interrupters
  • LV or MV switchgear components
  • Protection coordination and trip curve analysis
  • RCD / GFCI breakers
  • DC circuit protection devices
  • Contactors and thermal overload relays
  • ATS systems or switch disconnectors
  • Background in electromechanical or power distribution component manufacturing
  • Experience working with global standards (UL, IEC, IEEE) in real-world applications

Benefits

  • 401(k)
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Life insurance
  • Paid time off
