Job Summary:
Machinist 1 is responsible for machine setup, operation, troubleshooting, and ensuring parts meet all required specifications and tolerances. This position supports operators and works closely with quality personnel.
Machinist 2 performs advanced machine setup, process troubleshooting, and ensures all processes achieve required tolerances. This role leads process improvements and mentors lower-level employees.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate chamfer, score, hone final, and Koyo equipment.
- Perform Centerless Grind Final and CNC Drill operations.
- Perform magnet inspection and slot operations.
- Monitor and improve process efficiencies.
- Assist with root cause analysis and defect reduction.
- Train and mentor Operators 1 and 2.
- Achieve and maintain tolerances of .0008 - .0005 independently.
- Assistance for meeting tolerances tighter than .0005 (required)
- Ensure all processes meet quality and safety standards.
- Assist with machine troubleshooting and minor maintenance.
- Maintain autonomous maintenance schedule.
- Perform root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:
- Works in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery and occasional noise.
- Requires standing, stooping, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Manual dexterity and visual acuity required for detailed work and operation of machinery.
- Ability to understand verbal instructions and comply with safety and quality regulations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year machining experience.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Proficiency with precision measuring tools.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Basic CNC operation experience preferred.
