Electro Industries based in Monticello, Minnesota is seeking an Electrical Engineering Manager who is responsible for the overall technical and administrative leadership of a team that is comprised of Engineers, Designers, and Technicians at various levels of knowledge and capabilities. Principle responsibilities may include Engineering project formation and execution to support enhancement of the product portfolio, on-going product and process improvement, resolve field performance issues, achieve margin improvement, gain market positioning, or satisfy regulatory compliance standards. Duties include effectively managing the human and capital resources to ensure success.

Job Duties:

  • Manages and implements the required training of Engineers, Designers and support personnel for all technical skill requirements.
  • Assures that appropriate processes are used by the Engineering team and constantly challenge them for continuous improvement.
  • Directs personnel activities of department, such as recruitment, hiring, performance evaluations, and salary adjustments.
  • Trains, instructs, and provides technical and career guidance to employees.
  • Provides clear direction from the voice of the customer to internal engineering activities to meet targets.
  • Demonstrates and ensures Engineering team compliance to company process and quality standards.
  • Selects, and manages ongoing relationships with internal and external customers to ensure they receive satisfactory standards of service.
  • Implements the organization's new product development strategy by managing research activities in order to solve problems, and improve, or generate new products, components, equipment, systems, and processes.
  • Leads the most complex, critical, or significant engineering projects. Monitors progress and performance against the project plan, evaluates findings, identifies and resolves operational problems and minimizes delays, prepares detailed reports with recommendations and conclusions.
  • Estimates the costs, resources, and time required to implement the organization's annual new product development goals and monitors the performance of development projects to ensure targets are met.
  • Confers with management, production, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products.
  • Actively participates on codes and standards committees and delegates codes and standards activities to the Engineering team.
  • Ensure the Engineering team is executing to the agreed upon timelines and project deadlines.
  • Guide project teams to successfully resolve challenges related to product performance, regulatory concerns, project timelines, and deliverables.
  • Establish and maintain a cadence of communication with the Engineering team to ensure daily goals and KPIs are achieved.
  • Guide electronic design and software development of existing and new control platforms.
  • Guide the mechanical and electrical design of existing and new product platforms.

Education & Experience:

  • BS in Engineering discipline required from an accredited university, Electrical preferred
  • Minimum 3-5 years management or supervisory experience
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in electrical product design or new product development
  • Experience in boiler and/or heat pump design, PCB and software development, or HVAC system design and implementation is preferred
