What We’re Looking For

We are seeking a full-time Electrical Project Assistant with a passion for service and support the member of our Electrical Division.

Major Expectations & Accountabilities

  • Collaborates with our Electrical Project Managers in a variety of support functions within the EPS Electrical Division.
  • Plays a key role by assisting Project Managers with project start-up actions and close-out documentation.
  • Assists the Electrical Project Managers in developing competitive bid proposals, product information and estimates of commercial electrical projects and change orders.
  • Completes administrative actions by attaining and managing electrical permits, producing electrical panels and assisting with contract documentation.
  • Possesses strong leadership and effective communication skills to help maintain a clear understanding of each project's status and updates.
  • Ensures EPS's best efforts are represented, including profitability and cost control for each project.
  • Ability to coordinate efforts across the entire EPS organization by developing and implementing innovative work-flow patterns to help streamline processes.
  • Assist EPS Projects Manager completing and maintaining all required project documents and paperwork including work orders, materials used, and providing information for accurate billing and estimates to customers.
  • Works closely with the assigned Project Manager and Field Supervisor to determine labor needs for commercial projects, installation, and project closeout and completion.
  • Must be knowledgeable and able to interpret project contracts, assist in invoicing customers, preparing project bid bonds, and creating certificates of insurance and preparation of contracts.
  • Assist EPS Project Managers in developing and maintaining strong customer relationships as a trusted advisor setting project objectives and ensures final project meets or exceeds the customer’s expectations.
  • Ability to take detailed notes and photographs while attending jobsite walk-throughs and project meetings with General Contractors.
  • Promotes and follows EPS company philosophy. processes, values, and safety requirements.

What You’ll Need to Be Successful

  • A self-starter who is organized and has the ability to complete multi-task work assignments throughout the workday.
  • Possesses a basic understanding of the construction industry and ideally the commercial electrical industry.
  • Experience in performing a variety of administrative estimating, preparing commercial electrical bids, and knowledge of project management in electrical applications and systems.
  • Experience or willingness to learn how to use project management software.
  • Ability to foresee events and the ability to anticipate changes in conditions and operations and communicate those events to the Project Managers and assist in the ability to react and provide effective solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Outstanding customer service skills and a keen sense for detail.

Qualifications Set You Apart

  • Knowledge and understanding of reading and understanding documents related to electrical applications and systems.
  • Experience of providing administrative support for those working in the construction industry.
  • Expertise in SAGE 100 Construction software or any other estimating software.
  • Proficiency with business software, including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook calendaring

Compensation Range for our Electrical Project Assistant

  • Starting compensation is based on your relevant job experience
  • This role is considered non-exempt and paid hourly and eligible for overtime.
  • The starting hourly wage range for this role is between $30 and $35 per hour.

Physical Requirements/Essential Functions

  • Be able to give and receive detailed information through verbal and written communication.
  • Able to operate motor vehicles, driving to and from work sites, corporate offices, and vendor locations.
  • Sufficient vision to read instructions, blueprints, documents, etc.
  • Be able to walk over uneven terrain, over debris and other obstacles.
  • Regularly withstand Minnesota hot and cold weather conditions to perform outdoor and indoor responsibilities.
