Current Opportunity: EPG is seeking a Power Systems Engineer for full-time employment. This is critically important, customer facing role with a focus on providing power systems engineering support to utilities and grid operators on EPG’s WAMS Software applications. EPG develops advanced software for the electric power industry that are widely used for real-time operations. EPG’s solutions utilize power system knowledge base, data analytics, high performance computing, machine learning and advanced analytics for solving industry problems such as oscillation monitoring, detection, and source location; wide area situational awareness; integration of renewables; managing and monitoring inverter based renewable resources (IBR); data center monitoring; mission critical control center operations; model validation; event detection and root cause assessments; and advanced platforms for linear state estimation, contingency analysis, WAMS and WAMPAC.

Job Requirements:
The Power Systems Engineer, Customer Solutions position is a customer-facing role which requires a base knowledge of power systems operation and dynamics. This individual will work directly with customers (utilities and grid operators) to provide engineering support on WAMS implementation, perform engineering analysis, diagnose and troubleshoot issues, conduct training, product demonstrations and assist customers in extracting value from the software applications. Specific responsibilities include:
· Customer Interaction – Conduct weekly, biweekly, and/or monthly meetings with customers to assist customers with ongoing usage of Software and address any outstanding engineering support items
· Power Systems Engineering Guidance – Provide customers engineering guidance on thresholds and events (e.g. Oscillations) they have may observed.
· Engineering Studies and Analysis – Perform data analysis of key power system events in metrics including Frequency, Voltage, Power, etc. as well as Oscillations.
· Software Configuration Support – Troubleshooting and fine-tune configurations to ensure alarms are appropriately set.
· Customer Training and Knowledge Transfer – Conduct operator and user training on power systems and Synchrophasor fundamentals, EPG software applications and industry best practices.
· Presentations and Software Demonstrations – Prepare and make presentations to customers on a variety of topics, including demonstrations of the EPG software applications on addressing key use cases.
· WAMS Implementation Engineering Support – Lead power systems engineering activities for new customer deployments.
Key Skills:
· Proficiency in power system analysis including data analysis, power flow simulations, transient stability analysis, contingency analysis, and event analysis. Relevant power system areas for this position include synchrophasor technology, wide area monitoring systems (WAMS), oscillations monitoring and analysis, data analysis, machine learning, IBR performance monitoring and analysis, generator model validation and dynamic simulations.

Minimum Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related technical field
· Power Systems background and knowledge
· Onsite position based in Pasadena, California (remote candidates will not be considered)
Nice to Haves:
· Master’s/Advanced degree and/or 3 years of experience preferred.
· Knowledge of both RMS domain and EMT simulation tools such as PSSE, PSLF, Power World, TSAT, PSCAD, EMTP, MATLAB and experience with python, C , C# programming languages preferred.
· Experience in real-time operations support for transmission and distribution systems, control room technology, including synchrophasor applications
