We’re seeking an experienced Senior RTU Technician to join our Trussville, Alabama team. This key role supports electric utility customers by leading the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of Remote Terminal Units (RTUs) that connect substation equipment to utility SCADA systems.

What You’ll Do
- Lead field activities for RTU installation, configuration, and commissioning in electric utility substations.
- Direct troubleshooting efforts for electrical circuits, control wiring, and communication networks.
- Work fluently with SCADA communication protocols including DNP3, Modbus, and IEC 61850.
- Interpret, verify, and redline detailed engineering drawings — one-line and three-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, network drawings, and schematics.
- Configure and maintain RTUs using tools from SEL, GE, and other major manufacturers.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior technicians and engineers.
- Coordinate closely with project managers, field crews, and customers to ensure successful project delivery.
- Document configuration changes, test procedures, and site activities to maintain as-built accuracy.
- Champion best practices in field safety, quality assurance, and continuous process improvement.
What You Bring
- Experience: Minimum of 15 years in RTU or SCADA-related work within the power or industrial automation industry.
- Education: Associate degree or technical diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Controls, or related discipline (equivalent field experience considered).
- Master-level troubleshooting skills for both electrical and communication systems.
- Subject-matter expertise in substation automation, RTU configuration, and integration with SCADA systems.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting full electrical drawing packages.
- Strong communication and leadership skills; proven ability to mentor and develop others.
- Self-driven with excellent organizational and decision-making abilities.
