Optical Assistant

Electric City Eyes is a newer private practice in a growing area with an emphasis on creating a culture where patients and team members feel they are part of a family. Our optical assistant will be responsible for the selling, fitting, and dispensing glasses along with answering phones, patient scheduling, insurance verification, and other tasks that arise on a day-to-day basis while providing a great interpersonal experience for our patients. We are looking for a candidate that has experience in the field, exceptional communication skills, is flexible as the office grows, has the ability to multitask, and most of all the passion to be instrumental in helping to lay the foundation for our growing company.

Candidate requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 2 years of experience in the optical field required
• State optical license is highly recommended
• Familiarity working with many vision plans including Eyemed, Spectera, and VSP, etc.
• Great interpersonal and customer service skills
• The availability to work part time (about hours per week)
• The passion to assist in other tasks that aid in office efficiency and growth of the practice
• Passion to be a team player in a tight knit office.

Job Responsibilities:

• Ability to sell premium quality glasses and contact lenses
• Skilled in fitting, adjustment, and dispensing glasses
• To be familiar with our optical inventory and products to provide the most appropriate selections for the patient
• Edge lenses with in-house optical equipment
• Answer phones to schedule patients and answer general questions
• Verify insurances and interpret benefits from a large variety of medical and vision plans
• Have the willingness and flexibility to learn and adapt in a variety of situations
• Must have the desire and investment in the practice to help with promotion and growth
• Must be organized and familiar with constant open communication to the rest of the team.
• Pretesting of patients prior to seeing the doctor along with special testing patients as needed.
• Role will be a combination of optician, front desk, and technician roles. Must be happy to help out in all areas.

Compensation depends on experience and skill level.
