Position Summary:
The Vice President of Electric Powertrain will lead the strategy, design, development, and integration of electric propulsion systems across ENC’s and Rivaz’s vehicle platforms—including transit buses, shuttles, and medium-duty trucks. This role is responsible for ensuring that the company’s electrification roadmap delivers superior performance, reliability, efficiency, and manufacturability. Strategic Leadership

The VP will lead a multidisciplinary team encompassing battery systems, motors, inverters, controls, and thermal management, driving innovation and partnerships that strengthen ENC’s competitive advantage in zero-emission mobility.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Define and execute the company’s long-term electric powertrain roadmap aligned with corporate objectives and product strategies.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to align electrification programs with market trends, regulatory environments, and cost targets.
- Establish technology partnerships and supplier relationships to accelerate development and lower cost per kWh.
Engineering & Product Development
- Lead end-to-end design and integration of powertrain systems including batteries, traction motors, power electronics, DC/DC converters, thermal management, and HV architecture.
- Oversee the system validation, safety certification, and reliability testing of all electric propulsion components.
- Drive standardization across vehicle lines to maximize commonality and reduce complexity.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory and safety standards (FMVSS, SAE, UL, ISO 26262, etc.).
Team & Organizational Leadership
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing engineering organization focused on innovation, accountability, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Partner with Manufacturing Engineering to ensure smooth production transfer and service readiness.
- Develop succession planning, skill-building, and continuous improvement within the Powertrain group.
Financial & Program Management
- Develop and manage annual budgets and capital plans for powertrain development.
- Ensure program timelines, cost targets, and technical milestones are achieved.
- Support business case development for new products, cost reduction, and supplier initiatives.
Innovation & External Engagement
- Stay at the forefront of emerging EV technologies—battery chemistries, driveline architectures, charging standards, and control systems.
- Represent the company in technical forums, government collaborations, and industry partnerships.
- Identify and evaluate opportunities for patents, technology licensing, and R&D collaboration.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (Master’s or Ph.D. preferred).
- Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in powertrain or electrification systems, including at least 7 years in senior leadership roles.
- Proven record of leading cross-functional engineering teams delivering electric propulsion systems from concept to production.
- Strong understanding of vehicle system integration, thermal and NVH management, and manufacturing interface.
- Demonstrated success managing budgets, supplier relationships, and multi-site teams.
- Exceptional communication and leadership skills; ability to influence at all organizational levels.
