What are the responsibilities and job description for the LGBTQIA+ Peer Worker - part time position at Elder Services of Worcester Area, Inc?
LGBTQIA Peer Worker Hybrid-part-time10 hours per week.
The LGBTQIA Peer Worker offers assistance based on the shared understanding, respect, and mutual empowerment between people in similar situations. The LGBTQIA Peer Worker engages in a wide range of activities, including advocacy, linkage to resources and community relationship building. They operate Rainbow Lunch/Supper Clubs; plan activities, provide training, gather information on resources, administer programs, educate the public and work to raise awareness around current LGBTQIA Older Adult issues.
· A bachelor’s degree in social work, gerontology, psychology, or counseling is preferred. Other college degrees and/or High School diploma with comparable work experience required.
· Demonstrated knowledge of, respect for, and comfort with the LGBTQ community.
· Two years of experience required in service delivery to older adults, and/or LGBTQ community.· Demonstrated experience public speaking and working public events.· Use of a reliable vehicle including active vehicle insurance with a current license to drive or ability to use public/on demand transportation to get to/from site and off-site meetings required.
· Ability to self-direct and work independently but also function well as part of a team.
· Ability to establish positive and collaborative relationships with LGBTQ community, and community-based organizations.
· Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
· Computer proficiency, including ability to perform online research and operate evite system.
· Flexibility to work non-traditional hours, including working evenings and weekends.
· Must have moderate physical mobility; ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 30 pounds and have the ability to climb stairs.
· Ability to be Servesafe certified annually.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Non-negotiable Salary: $16/hr
