Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers, including manual transmission trucks, across local and regional routes.
- Load and unload freight using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or roll-off trucks, ensuring proper handling of all cargo types including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and dump trucks.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety and compliance with transportation regulations.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery records, and route documentation in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
- Manage route driving efficiently by planning optimal paths to meet delivery schedules while adhering to safety standards.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients regarding delivery times, route changes, or issues encountered during transit.
- Assist with loading cargo onto trucks and securing loads properly to prevent shifting or damage during transit.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in truck driving, including delivery driver roles with a strong focus on freight handling.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with endorsements relevant to the truck types operated (e.g., tanker, refrigerated trailer).
- Skilled in operating manual transmission vehicles with a solid understanding of tractor-trailer systems.
- Experience with various truck types such as flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks is highly desirable.
- Ability to load & unload freight safely using forklifts or other equipment when necessary.
- Knowledge of transportation regulations and safety protocols for commercial driving.
