Job Summary

You will design and integrate PCBAs, working with processors, FPGAs (integration only), sensors, and high-speed interfaces. This is a practical, lab-driven role with direct ownership of hardware from concept through bring-up, validation, and transition to production.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Design board-level hardware including schematic capture, component selection, and interface definition
- Integrate processors, sensors, and interface subsystems into cohesive board-level designs
- Integrate FPGAs at the system and interface level (no FPGA logic or RTL design)
- Partner with PCB layout to ensure signal integrity, manufacturability, and overall performance
- Perform board bring-up, debug, and validation in a lab environment
- Develop and execute test and debug approaches to validate hardware performance
- Troubleshoot hardware issues across prototype and production builds
- Design for size, weight, and power (SWaP)-constrained systems
- Implement power management and low-voltage power distribution
- Collaborate with mechanical, systems, and embedded software teams on full system integration
- Participate in design reviews and contribute to architecture and trade studies
- Support transition from prototype to production including DFM/DFT considerations and manufacturing support
- Perform basic design analysis and support simulation activities as needed
- Board-level hardware design and integration

- This is a hands-on hardware design role focused on board-level development
- You will work with FPGAs at the system and interface level — not design FPGA code or RTL
- This is not a coordination-only or documentation-heavy position
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in electrical or Electronic Engineering and at least 5 years of relevant experience in the industry (defense/government contractor experience preferred but not required)
- Experience with one of the following: Mentor Graphics, Cadence, and/or Altium
- Ability to travel 10%
- Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Experience with PCB design tools such as Altium, Cadence, or Mentor (any one)
- Lab-based work including hardware bring-up, debug, and test
- Familiarity with signal integrity / power integrity (SI/PI) and high-speed design practices is a plus
- Experience with ruggedized or mission-critical systems is a plus
- Work on advanced, low-SWaP systems that go into real-world deployed applications
- Smaller engineering teams with direct ownership and technical visibility
- Focus on practical hardware challenges, not incremental maintenance work
