Position Summary
Coordinates and provides direct patient care for cardiac rehabilitation patients. Carries out all aspects of cardiac rehabilitation services. Utilizes the nursing process in providing care and includes the process in documentation, identifying unusual conditions, and utilizing initiative and judgment to carry out appropriate response.
Key Responsibilities
- Administers cardiac treatments and patient specific care to cardiac patients following cardiac events in accordance with approved nursing techniques.
- Observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies Physician of patient’s condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents throughout the progression of care.
- Collects data and presents to the Quality council on a quarterly basis.
- Attends required meetings and completes continuing education program as required.
- Initiates a patient education plan on heart healthy lifestyles, according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Physician and/or hospital policy including instruction to the patient, family, and others, as identified.
- Maintains departmental records according to established hospital policy and requirements of all appropriate accreditation agencies.
- Provides emotional support and guidance to patients dealing with cardiac health issues.
- Performs any other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
- ADN or RN with related health field required.
- Licensed Respiratory Therapist
Licensure/Certification:
- Current BLS and ACLS certification required.
- Licensed RN applicants considered cardiac care experience.
Experience:
- Previous experience in cardiac rehabilitation, cardiology, telemetry, or related clinical setting preferred.
- Registered Nurse – 2 years
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of cardiovascular physiology and cardiac disease
- Excellent communication and patient-teaching skills
- Ability to recognize cardiac symptoms and respond to emergencies
- Strong documentation and organizational abilities
- Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care
Working Conditions
- Clinical environment with frequent patient interaction
- Requires standing, walking, lifting, and monitoring exercise activity
- May involve exposure to bodily fluids and medical equipment
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $28.93 - $34.03 per hour
Expected hours: 36 per week
