Pet Care Specialist

PURPOSE

Under close supervision, performs Pet Care and Activities department operations. Following established policies and procedures; ensures the health, safety and comfort of all guests entrusted to us through high-quality care. Evaluates, monitors, and documents pet health and temperament. Cleans, disinfects, and maintains sanitary conditions of all pet care areas and the facility. Assists with guest enrichment and exercise.

RESPONSIBILITY OF SUPERVISON

Reports to the Guest Services Supervisor and receives supervision from the Guest Services Supervisor, Team Leaders, and department coordinators. Exercises no supervision.

Pay Range: $16.90

Essential Functions

• Thorough cleaning and sanitizing of all pet areas including the annual deep cleaning of the facility
• Conduct quality and interactive Playtimes, Walks, Treat Times and Tender Care Sessions
• Responsible for the personal care and wellbeing of each pet
• Appropriately handle and interact respectfully with each pet
• Identify health and behavioral problems with pets and inform Team Leader
• Operate equipment and use chemicals according to safety procedures, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment
• Observe and maintain a safe working environment in compliance with established safety policies and procedures
• Documentation and record-keeping for each guest including completing task reports. Including the use of a kennel management software.
• May lift and carry pets, food bags, cat litter, and other equipment up to and over 50 pounds
• Receive on-going training as appropriate

Qualifications

• Be available to work:
• a minimum of 20 hours a week
• at both EPR locations
• evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled
• Maintain availability for the departments included in the Pet Care Specialist 1 position
• Must be 18 years or older with a High School Diploma
• Previous Pet Care Experience (preferred not required)
• Able to work outdoors in various weather conditions
• Able to walk, sit, bend, stoop and/or stand for up to 8 hours a day
• Able to lift up to 50lbs
• Must have clear written and verbal communication and sound documentation techniques;
• Operate office equipment including computer hardware and software applications and kennel management software systems
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, clients, and organizations in the course of work.
• Must have good consistent attendance including arriving to work on time.
