Project Architect / Architect Level II
Location: Petoskey, Michigan | In Person
Salary: $92,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications

Elaine Keiser Architect (EKA) is seeking a licensed Architect Level II to join our team in Petoskey, Michigan.
The ideal candidate is a fully competent architect with experience in architectural design, documentation, specifications, and project coordination. This position will work on residential and commercial projects of moderate size and complexity, contribute through multiple phases of project development, and independently manage assigned projects with support from firm leadership as needed.
Responsibilities
- Independently perform architectural assignments involving design, documentation, planning, and technical coordination.
- Develop architectural solutions for residential and commercial projects of moderate size and complexity.
- Prepare and review plans, elevations, sections, details, reports, specifications, and related project documentation.
- Perform design, planning, code, zoning, and occupancy analyses.
- Develop design layouts and assist in evaluating design alternatives.
- Compile and analyze project information to support design and technical decisions.
- Coordinate architectural documents with structural, mechanical, electrical, civil, and other consultants.
- Coordinate project schedules, drawing production, internal deadlines, and deliverables.
- Coordinate directly with clients, consultants, contractors, and permitting authorities as appropriate.
- Review drawings and project documents for accuracy, completeness, coordination, and consistency.
- Participate in internal QA/QC reviews and help identify technical or constructability issues before documents are issued.
- Complete site visits and assist with construction-phase services, including shop drawing review, project bulletins, RFIs, and field-related coordination.
- Help resolve design and documentation issues that arise during project development and construction.
- Provide technical guidance and support to less experienced architectural staff as needed.
- Manage multiple assignments and priorities while maintaining project quality and deadlines.
Qualifications
- Professional degree in Architecture.
- Active Michigan architectural license required.
- Six or more years of professional architectural experience preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional AutoCAD experience required.
- Fully competent in conventional aspects of architectural design, documentation, and construction.
- Strong understanding of building systems, construction methods, detailing, and applicable codes.
- Experience producing and reviewing construction documents and specifications.
- Ability to independently manage assigned projects and architectural responsibilities.
- Strong project coordination, organization, and communication skills.
- Ability to review the work of others and provide clear technical feedback.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Residential and commercial project experience preferred.
- Experience with SketchUp, Enscape, or similar visualization software preferred.
Work Arrangement
This is an in-person position based at our Petoskey, Michigan office. Up to $5,000 in relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.
