BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of the Chief Business Official (CBO), provide for the nutritious and timely service of breakfast and lunch foods for students and staff of an assigned school site; order and sell prepared food to students and faculty in cafeteria or snack bar locations; maintain accurate records of food service activities.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
- Prepare and sell preapred food to students and faculty in cafeteria or snack bar locations; stack and sell snack and entrée items during break periods; deliver lunches to other classrooms. E
- Serve as cashier, receive and collect money and tickets; account for free, reduced and paid lunch sales; maintain records on student accounts; inform students and parents on account status. E
- Receive, reassemble and store food and commodities and paper products in appropriate location; assist in the storage and rotation of supplies in storage areas. E
- Assemble heat and serve lunch and breakfast to students and staff; serve meals on serving lines; set out prepared foods, chopping food in proper portions. E
- Set up, disassemble, clean and operate ovens, utensils and related laundry and food service equipment. E
- Compile and prepare accurate reports of number of meals served, number and classification of tickets received; conduct daily inventory of unused food and supplies. E
- Clean kitchen area regularly to assure sanitary conditions. E
- Monitor children in cafeteria; train and provide work direction to student volunteer(s). * Travel to other food service locations to serve food during break periods as assigned. * Participate in staff meetings and training sessions.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Sanitation practices related to handling and serving food.
- Basic math and cashiering skills.
- Standard kitchen equipment, utensils and measurements.
ABILITY TO:
- Make simple arithmetical calculations.
- Operate a cash register and make change accurately.
- Maintain food service equipment and areas in a clean and sanitary condition.
- Meet schedules and timelines.
- Maintain routine records.
- Work cooperative with others.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Some incumbents in this position may be required to possess a valid California driver’s license. Food Handler and Sanitation Certificate issued by the Los Angeles Department of Health Services.

- Lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling moderately heavy objects Standing and walking for extended periods of time.

- Reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally Bending at the waist
HAZARDS:
- Exposure to very hot foods, equipment and metal objects
- Exposure to sharp knives and slicers
- Exposure to cleaning agents and pesticides.

- Salary is based on placement on the Classified Salary Schedule as it relates to qualifications,education, and verifiable contracted experience
