What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead - Dairy-Deli-Frozen position at El Rio Grande Latin Market?
Essential Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Lead and support the daily activities of the Dairy, Deli, and Frozen team.
- Assist with stocking, rotating, and replenishing merchandise while following FIFO (First In, First Out) practices.
- Monitor product quality, freshness, expiration dates, and proper temperature controls.
- Ensure shelves, displays, coolers, and freezers are clean, organized, and fully stocked.
- Provide excellent customer service and assist customers with product selection and inquiries.
- Help train, coach, and provide guidance to team members on department procedures and company standards.
- Maintain food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards.
- Assist with inventory counts, receiving deliveries, and maintaining organized back stock.
- Perform ordering, receiving, stocking, and inventory control activities to maintain accurate inventory levels and product availability.
- Safely operate department equipment as required and follow all safety procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Manager or Store Management.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of grocery, dairy, deli, frozen, or retail stocking experience preferred.
- Previous lead or supervisory experience preferred.
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent work experience preferred.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Bilingual (English & Spanish) preferred.
- Strong customer service, communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
- Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb ladders as needed.
- Work in refrigerated and freezer environments for extended periods.
- Use hands and arms continuously to stock, organize, and handle merchandise.
- Ability to safely operate pallet jacks and other department equipment as required.
