General Description

The purpose of this job is to perform and assist in limited semi-skilled manual labor using a variety of hand tools, power tools, and equipment in the maintenance of general commercial buildings and grounds. The job will also include maintaining the agency's vehicles and ensuring they are operational and in good working order.

This position will have time split between Maintenance and Fleet operations. The position will be full time, but scheduling will be fluid as needed between the hours of 6 a.m. - 6 p.m. Overtime will occasionally be required.

This class works under close to general supervision according to set procedures but determines how or when to complete tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.

• Perform and assist in electrical maintenance including repairing and replace lights, outlets, and other electrical fixtures.
• Perform and assist plumbing maintenance such as repairing water lines, commodes, faucets, and replacing valves and sewer lines.
• Perform and assist maintenance on buildings which includes painting, replacing ceiling tiles, and replacing carpet. May perform general maintenance on HVAC systems.
• Operate and maintain a variety of hand tools.
• Maintains vehicle preventative maintenance schedule.
• Inspect all vehicle functions to include mechanical failures, motor and transmission, interior inspection and exterior inspections. Ensure every vehicle is up to date with plates, inspections, and is functioning properly and safely.
• Maintains the appearance of vehicles by washing and vacuuming as needed.
• Take vehicles for repairs and maintenance services.
• Recover damaged or stalled vehicles.
• Logs vehicle information at the time of issuing and upon return. Document any damages or malfunctions
• Performs related work as required.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by one (1) year of experience in commercial maintenance, manual labor, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Experience with trauma-informed services; cognitive behavioral therapies, including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT); and motivational therapies including the use of incentives, preferred.

Required Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge of trauma-informed theories, principals, and practices (includes multi-faceted understanding of concepts such as community trauma, intergenerational and historical trauma, parallel processes, and universal precautions), preferred.

Physical Demands

Performs medium to heavy work that involves walking, standing, stooping, lifting, digging, pushing and raising objects and involves exerting between 20 to 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis and 50 to 100 pounds of force on an occasional basis.

Special Certifications and Licenses

• Must possess and maintain a valid state Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
• Must be able to pass a TB, criminal background and drug screen.
