Responsibilities
- Perform thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, medical history review, and oral examinations to determine treatment needs
- Clean and polish teeth using ultrasonic scalers, hand instruments, and other dental hygiene tools while ensuring patient comfort
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) accurately and efficiently using digital imaging systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, including brushing, flossing techniques, and dietary advice to promote long-term oral health
- Assist with procedures such as periodontal therapy, prosthodontics, orthodontics, oral surgery, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry when necessary
- Maintain detailed and accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations and office protocols
- Collaborate with dentists and dental assistants to ensure seamless patient care and smooth clinic operations
Qualifications
- Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current CPR certification
- Proven experience in general dentistry with familiarity in dental terminology and clinical procedures
- Strong knowledge of dental specialties including periodontics, orthodontics, prosthodontics, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, and related fields
- Proficiency in dental software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for charting, scheduling, and medical records management
- Experience with EMR systems and medical coding to ensure accurate documentation of treatments
- Excellent communication skills to effectively educate patients about their oral health needs
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and patient comfort
