Under general supervision ensures correct assignment of medical records numbers, retrieves medical records collects birth certificate information, sorts and files reports. Updates record deficiency information and maintains microfilm area.
Qualifications:Work Experience:
- One year of experience in Health Information Management or healthcare-related work experience to include Hospital/clinic/physicians' medical billing/insurance office.
- An associate’s degree in Health Information Management (HIM), Medical Billing and Coding or a related field can be substituted for work experience.
License/Registration/Certification:
- None
Education and Training:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
Skills:
- Basic knowledge of Health Information Systems practices, procedures and guidelines.
- Must be detail oriented.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Bilingual English/Spanish.
- Knowledgeable of medical terminology.
- Knowledgeable of or ability to learn maintenance of Hospital medical records.
- Knowledgeable of or ability to learn multiple computer systems of Hospital medical records.
