Substitute Special Education Paraprofessional – 2026–2027 School Year

Job Summary

El Paseo Children's Center, Inc. is seeking Substitute Special Education Paraprofessionals/Paraeducators to provide classroom support on an as-needed basis for the 2026–2027 school year. Substitute Paraeducators work under the supervision of a school site administrator and the direction of a credentialed teacher to support students receiving special education services.

This is an on-call substitute position. Assignments may vary based on school site needs and are typically 6–7-hour shifts during regular school hours, Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities of the Substitute Special Education Paraprofessional/Paraeducator include, but are not limited to:

• Providing instructional assistance to students individually or in small groups with mild to severe, and often multiple, physical, emotional, behavioral, cognitive, learning, and/or communication disabilities.
• Assisting students with personal care and physical support needs, including specialized care procedures when required.
• Supporting classroom instruction and helping maintain a positive, safe, and productive learning environment.
• Relieving the teacher of routine clerical duties and performing other related duties as assigned.
• Following lesson plans and teacher directions while adapting to a variety of classroom settings and student needs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with individuals with special needs, including learning disabilities, emotional disabilities, and behavioral disorders.
• Experience working with students with special needs in a school or clinical setting.
• Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) experience and/or CPI training is preferred.
• Ability to be flexible, dependable, and adapt to different school sites and classroom environments.

Pay: $22.00 - $27.50 per hour
