Job Title: Youth Soccer Coach (Part-Time, Recreational, Ages 3-13)
Location: El Cerrito, CA (including Richmond, Albany, and Berkeley)
Pay: $21 – $36 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)
Job Type: Part-time, Seasonal
TIMELINE: Looking to hire & onboard coaches this summer (June–July) to prepare to coach this upcoming FALL 2026 (August 10–November 15) & beyond!

El Cerrito Soccer Club is a community-based nonprofit organizations serving more than 300 East Bay families annually through year-round soccer programs. We are seeking passionate, caring, and dedicated coaches to lead and inspire young recreational soccer players, ages 3–13.
As a coach, you’ll do more than teach soccer – you’ll help shape confidence, resilience, friendships, and a lifelong love of the game while creating a fun, inclusive, and supportive environment where every child can play, grow, and belong. We invest in trained, paid coaches who serve as positive role models and make a lasting difference in the lives of young people.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead engaging, developmentally appropriate soccer practices and games
- Create a fun, positive, and inclusive team environment where every player feels valued and supported
- Serve as a consistent, reliable presence for players and families by arriving prepared and on time for all assigned practices and games
- Build team culture by encouraging effort, sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect
- Motivate and inspire players of all skill levels to develop confidence, resilience, and a love of the game
- Communicate clearly and professionally with players, parents, and club staff
Schedule & Availability
- Expected commitment: 4-12 hours/week
- Weekday practices between 4:00-7:00 PM
- Coaches should be available for approximately 2 consecutive hours on assigned days
- Weekends: Must be available for games on Saturdays and/or Sundays
- Locations: El Cerrito, Richmond, Albany, Berkeley
- Reliable transportation required
Qualifications
We’re looking for coaches who are dependable, enthusiastic, and passionate about helping young players grow. The strongest candidates combine soccer knowledge with the ability to positively engage, motivate, and lead children.
Required
- Passion for working with children and supporting youth development
- Positive, energetic, and engaging personality
- Dependable, punctual, and committed to showing up consistently for players and families
- Ability to lead groups of children while creating a fun, safe, and inclusive environment
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to motivate and encourage players of all skill levels
- Reliable transportation to assigned practices and game locations
- Availability to coach for two consecutive hours on assigned days and attend weekend games
- Foundational soccer playing, coaching, or refereeing experience and a solid understanding of the game
Preferred (Not Required)
- Experience coaching youth soccer
- Experience working with children in schools, camps, after-school programs, childcare, or other youth-serving settings
- CPR/First Aid certification
- Coaching licenses or soccer-specific training

Selected candidates will be invited to participate in an interview followed by an in-person observation. All coaches must successfully complete a background check prior to working with players.
