What are the responsibilities and job description for the Houseperson position at El Capitan Hotel & The Mainzer?
El Capitan Hotel is a choice location for off-the-beaten-path exploration. A luxurious translation of a road trip pit stop, the hotel features 114 guest rooms, a historic theater, and four distinct dining experiences, all reflective of California's Central Valley.
- Adhere to all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, training material, memos, and verbal instruction
- Maintain inventory of linens, cleaning supplies, and guest amenities to ensure adequate supplies in accordance with established par levels and timeframes
- Replenish housekeeping carts throughout the shift with all necessary supplies
- Remove linen and trash from all vacated guest rooms proper to room attendant service
- Complete any guests requests in a timely fashion
- Maintain guest corridor and back of house cleanliness throughout the shift
- Report and correct any deficiencies noted in guest rooms or public areas to the appropriate individuals
- Assist in the timely completion of all projects including mattress rotation, window washing, deep cleanings, etc.
- Assist in the implementation of special projects
- Possess knowledge of all guest services and amenities
- Greet all guests in close proximity and make each feel important by providing a genuine welcome
- Ensure immediate response is given to guest comments and concerns; inform immediate supervisor and apply corrective measures when necessary
- Ensure open lines of communication with all departments and management via email, logbooks, meetings, etc. to ensure all needs of the outlet are met
- Maintain a high level of cleanliness, sanitation, and safety in the work area
- Ensure that all equipment is maintained in good, safe working condition
- Maintain an increased awareness of safety issues throughout the property and keep abreast of safety and emergency procedures and OSHA requirements
- Be available to fill in and assist in other areas as needed to ensure the efficient operation of the outlet as directed by the outlet manager and attend relevant meetings as directed
- High school diploma or general education degree preferred
- Previous guest service and/or housekeeping experience preferred
- Ability to interpret standard operating procedures, safety, and sanitation instructions
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- The person having this position may have to lift up to fifty (50) pounds daily; anything over fifty (50) pounds is considered a minimum two (2) person lift.
- The person having this position may have to sit, stand and/or walk, push, kneel, bend, balance, squat, reach and stretch for eight (8) hours per day.
