JOB DESCRIPTION

The El Camino Community College District is now accepting applications for anticipated part-time faculty positions in the following subject area for fall 2026:


COMPUTER INFORMATION SYSTEMS

Faculty job responsibilities include the assessment of learning outcomes to improve teaching and learning in achieving El Camino College's mission of institutional effectiveness, quality educational programs, and vibrant student support services.

Faculty assignments may include morning, afternoon, evening, or weekend hours. Dual enrollment, distance education, on-line or hybrid with required distance education certification assignments are voluntary. For faculty who are interested in teaching online or hybrid courses, completion of El Camino College's distance education certification process is required or submission of a waiver with evidence of prior certification to develop and teach quality online courses.

Faculty may participate in initiatives set forth by the College that support students to achieve their educational goals through collaborations with employers, advisory committees, industry/trade groups, universities, high schools, or other partnerships with related instructional disciplines.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

Master's in computer science, computer information systems or business administration with an emphasis in computer information systems AND two years appropriate work experience; OR

Bachelor's degree in any of the above AND five years of appropriate work experience; OR

The equivalent - Candidates not possessing the required qualification(s) as stated on this announcement must complete the Request For Equivalency Form as part of the application process to explain in detail how their qualifications are equivalent to those above; OR

Valid California community college credential in appropriate subject issued prior to July 1, 1990 (per California Education Code 87355); AND

Sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and of individuals with disabilities.


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS


Experience in teaching computers.
Experience teaching online.

Prior experience teaching CCNA classes.

Experience with Linux Administration or Windows Server.

Knowledge of C#, Swift, Python, and/or JavaScript.
Knowledge of the CI/CD pipeline including security.
Experience with automating workloads at scale.
Experience with Web Design, Development and Content Management Platforms.
Experience with Mobile Application Development and Platforms.
Experience with Database Management, Design, and Programming (MS Access, MySQL, SQL Server).
Prior experience teaching Cyber Security and AWS Cloud Computing.
One or more of the following industry recognized certifications: AWS (Cloud Practitioner, Solutions Architect Associate, Certified AI Practitioner etc.), Microsoft (Azure Administrator, Azure Fundamentals, Microsoft Azure AI Fundamentals etc.), Google Cloud Platform (Cloud Architect, Google Generative AI Leader, Google Professional Machine Learning Engineer, G Suite, etc.), CompTIA (A , Network , Security ), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Cisco (CCNA and CCSI).
Demonstrated experience using student learning outcomes assessment to improve student learning, program review, and curriculum review.

Demonstrated experience in equity-minded curriculum and instruction.


CLOSING DATE: MONDAY, MAY 4, 2026 AT 3:00 P.M.

SALARY:

Part-time faculty members are compensated on a semester basis according to the number of class hours assigned per semester and on cumulative semesters of instruction for the District. The beginning rate is $110.17 - $146.27 (lecture), $83.51 - $110.84 (lab), per hour depending on education and experience.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

This is a part-time, temporary position for the 2026 fall semester, beginning August 2026. Assignments may include off-site locations. Offer and acceptance of employment is subject to verification of all information provided on the employment application, credential(s), and transcripts. Candidates selected for employment must agree to be fingerprinted, submit a Certificate of Completion of the Tuberculosis Risk Assessment and/or Examination, provide proof of eligibility for employment in the United States, and present a valid Social Security Card upon hire.
