We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Global Mobility & Payroll Specialist to lead end-to-end payroll operations, HRIS data administration, and global mobility compliance. In this role, you will serve as the primary operational link between North American subsidiaries and Samsung Home Office in South Korea, managing complex expat payroll, tax equalizations, and immigration-related workstreams.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in tier-1 payroll platforms (UltiPro, Workday, Dimensions), strong multi-country payroll compliance knowledge (US & Canada), and fluent Korean communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-border stakeholders.

Top Skills Required

  • Payroll Processing: End-to-end multi-state US & Canadian payroll execution, audit, tax management, GL postings, and system reconciliations.
  • Global Mobility / Expat / Immigration: Expat profile administration, tax equalization, assignment initiation/conclusion, and mobility tax credit monitoring.
  • Bilingual Proficiency (Korean & English): Fluent professional communication to align with South Korea Home Office teams and local leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Global Mobility & Expat Administration

  • Directly facilitate end-to-end payroll and HR workstreams for global mobility assignees, including core profile setup, tax equalization, and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate closely with Samsung Home Office (South Korea) and North American Subsidiary stakeholders to ensure expat mobility assignments are seamlessly initiated and concluded.
  • Evaluate global mobility processes and procedural documentation to drive continuous process improvements, automation, and operational efficiency.
  • Sustain periodic and cumulative audit processes for monthly, quarterly, and annual activities, including mobility tax credit monitoring and compliance tracking.

Core Payroll & HRIS Operations

  • Fulfill day-to-day functions of the shared service payroll team, including UKG/Dimensions timecard maintenance, Workday HRIS data integrity, and accurate payroll execution via UltiPro.
  • Manage time accruals and audit data sets across multiple payroll and timekeeping source systems.
  • Calculate leaves of absence and supplemental benefit payments accurately within regulatory guidelines.
  • Ensure all processing procedures strictly adhere to federal, state, provincial, and local compliance regulations across US and Canadian jurisdictions.

Level 3 Service Delivery & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as the Level 3 Customer Experience escalation point for complex mobility and payroll inquiries submitted via ticketing systems, phone, and direct channels.
  • Manage vendor and internal relationships within defined SLAs, providing ongoing research, resolution, and high-touch support to workers, HR, accounting, and benefits administrators.
  • Mentor payroll analysts and employee support center representatives to elevate foundational payroll and mobility knowledge.

Reporting, Accounting & Continuous Improvement

  • Support recurring and ad hoc reporting, delivering basic-to-intermediate datasets for internal and external leadership.
  • Execute payroll accounting functions, including General Ledger (GL) posting, journal accruals, and expense reconciliations.
  • Lead project initiatives, gather user requirements for system enhancements, and present business performance reviews to frontline staff and senior executives.

Required

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience: 5 years of US & Canadian payroll experience, preferably within a shared services or 3rd-party processing environment, with a heavy emphasis on global mobility and expat management.
  • Language: Fluent in Korean and English (written and verbal) to support daily communication with South Korea Home Office stakeholders.
  • Customer Service: 4 years in customer-facing or internal service delivery roles with a strong background in stakeholder management.
  • Systems: Hands-on experience with enterprise HRIS, payroll, and timekeeping systems (e.g., UltiPro/UKG Pro, Workday, Kronos/Dimensions).
  • Technical Skills: Intermediate-to-advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Analytical & Communication: Proven ability to interpret, create, and present complex instructions, schedules, and workflows to non-technical audiences.

Preferred

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • Certifications:
    • APA Fundamental Payroll Certificate (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP).
    • Canadian Payroll Association (PCP/CPM) certification.
  • Experience managing leaves of absence, tax equalizations, and GL account reconciliations.
Key Result Areas (KRAs) & Success Metrics

  • Payroll Accuracy: Maintain or exceed Shared Service Center (SSC) SLA standards for error-free payroll execution.
  • Ticket Resolution: Meet or exceed Service Request SLA resolution targets for Level 3 mobility and payroll inquiries.
